I've maxed out education and banking and not sure what to points into next. I've heard some people say Life is next most important but I'm not sure. My director says he appreciates EE but doesn't require it.

Life.
At your age I would say life or maybe getting awareness to level 5
It all depends on your play style aswell.
for newer players i'd recommend this:
edu/bank interest 10
crime xp 10
after that if you're a fighter, crit/life to 10, your weapon type of choice to 10, then stat passives to 10
hosp merits to 10
ee if you need it, awareness if you want it for a bit more passive income
stealth/addiction mitgation are worthless. mug merits if you like mugging. nerve capacity is mostly useless once you get enogh natural bar that you can sleep/work without it ever filling up
here's me at endgame (all crimes 100 and edus done)
The supposed ‘Best faction in the game’ can’t give their members this basic advice?
I personally wouldn't recommend weapons until much later.
At OP's age they surely have a ton of different weapon merits left to do so they should switch weapons a lot.
IMHO do weapon merits once you have a good fixed load out.
Life and crits is good but again more mid to late game.
Nerve and crime XP is my go to at start.
But it is purely up to ones play style.
I agree that from here on it's based on your play style, so just sharing observations etc rather than recommending.
- Life -> to stay longer in fights (contrary to my previous sentence this is actually very useful although not necessarily all 10 in)
- EE -> that allowed me to negotiate into the company i'm in for a higher position
- Stats -> especially if you are not the 'always jumping' kind of player
Latest merit guide very useful info
Have a look at that and hopefully it helps with however you want to play the game.

Don't take your third choice all the way to 10 pips. Pick the ones you will work on after bank and edu and get all of those to 1 pip, then 2, and so on. The first four pips cost the same amount as the tenth pip.
