In Torn, we currently have the excellent option in the Hospital route to toggle revives on or off. This adds great flexibility for roleplay, wars, or strategic choices.

I think a similar feature would be amazing for the Jail system; the ability to turn off being broken out by others. Who knows this could turn into merits or more education courses if not use the existing ones to increase how this would work.

Best Cases:

  • Duke Missions: If you're jailed as part of a mission, and need to use or do something.

  • Avoiding Wars: Say you're jailed for 3 days, and it's during a faction war, and you'd rather stay in jail than be hospitalized constantly or used as a target because you won't be around.

  • Roleplay / Personal Strategy: Some players may want to experience jail time or use it strategically without being busted out.

With the same method as the hospital, Could optionally show a small icon or text saying "Escape disabled" next to your name in jail.

One disadvantage is that you wouldn't be able to easily release yourself from jail the way you can from the hospital when you self hospitalize by using a medkit.

But an alternative might that you can't break someone out of jail until they've been in jail for at least 5 minutes (or some modest amount of time). That would at least allow people to complete Duke missions that require being in jail.

-This statement is the exact reason why this shouldn't be a thing. Turtleing, while a valid strategy, drastically slows down the pace of a war. The game doesn't need another method for people to hide from being attacked. You already have flights and the hospital.

Also, fyi, if you are jailed for 3 days, few people if anyone are going to be able to bust you out anyway.

-Lol, noone wants to experience jail time. The jail gym sucks, once you unlock the third or fourth lightweight gym. What some people want is the ability to have a safety zone, that they have control of when they can activate and deactivate. For some reason flights and the hospital aren't enough.

Lawyer business cards instantly release you from any jail time.

So you are suggesting that every single person that fails a crime and gets sent to jail has to sit there and wait for five minutes before they can be busted out, just so the few people that have that duke mission can finish it. And f**ks sake, what kind of internet do you have that it takes five minutes to open the item screen and use an item?

Skarr02 [3462286]

That mission I have to repeat 12 times, as I kept getting instantly released and was really annoying. People active on it also like it was a scripted release.

But yes, this would increase the cost of lawyer business cards and make them useful again!

It's because you are low level and an easy bust. People are collecting busting merits, myself included. Regardless, 5 minutes is absurd. Even flying you only get a 15 second safety window. It would actually be very funny if this got implemented and the torn community, who are known for their patience and understanding, found out you were the cause.

In regards to your mission. Have your item screen on a seperate tab. go ahead and hit use, so the "Are you sure?" question pops up. Then get arrested and switch over and use it. If you are having trouble doing that, then try it at different times. Torn, as a whole, seems a little less active around 2 a.m. to 4 a.m. tct.  Also, declining is always an option.
