How can I gain more job stats faster? I get trains pretty regularly from my company but it still seems like a very slow climb

You can gain work stats through player owned companies, city jobs, and education courses. Paying for trains in a company is the fastest way to gain work stats. Clothing store and lingerie store specials can get you additional work stats as can the education city job.
Trains are a thing player run companies receive every day. Companies can normally get up to 10 a day and each train gives you +50 to your primary working stats and +25 to the secondary. Trains range in price from 300-500k each. Check out this forum if your interested in buying them:

It does move slow, but torn is a long term game. Stats take time to build up.
