Hi there, our faction, Occul2us, was in a war with Lupi. We had a 33 point lead and were letting the lead decay (it has been a very long war). At 22:00 today our lead target was 44. Our lead target should have gone to 0 and ended the war at 23:00 (that was also hour 123 of the war, at which point it should have ended, regardless of target). The war did not end. We then hit three more times, driving the lead to 43 (including once in front of Flare, who watched the target go up) and each time the lead target went up to match, but the war did not end.

Flare advised us that this was likely a bug, and to either get one more hit to put us over the 44 decay rate or wait until the next hour ended. However, the hour ended before we could get another hit in and now the war is over, but it says we forfeited, despite have a 43 point lead at the end of the war.

I hope that this bug can be fixed, and that my team can get the W and loot they so sorely deserve.

Thank you!

Hello,

Our Faction LUPI have recently finished a WAR with Occul2us.

Around 22.00 TCT, which should've been the very last hour of the war, Occul2us had a small lead of 33 points, with the target score at 44. From what we understand about how the game works, the target score should've dropped to zero the next hour (23.00 TCT, making Occul2us the winners since 123 hours had passed and they had 33 points.

But the war just kept going!

We thought it might be a glitch, so some LUPI members even jumped out of the hospital to let Occul2us get more hits in. While that was happening, we noticed something really strange, every time Occul2us scored, the target score would mysteriously jump up to match their new total (like 39/39).

We actually have a screen recording that clearly shows Occul2us should have won fair and square. CheekyWolf even showed it to IceBlueFire, who told us to post it in the bugs and issues forum.

Eventually, it took about 15-20 minutes for the war page to update. It did correctly say that Occul2us had won, but it incorrectly added that LUPI had forfeited and it also showed neither faction got any rewards. This just isn't right, the war should've finished with both sides getting their earned rewards.

And we definitely didn't forfeit.

Both LUPI and Occul2us put a ton of effort and time into this war. We're really hoping this bug can be sorted out quickly so both factions can get the rewards they deserve.

Thanks for taking a look at this!

Thanks, CloudJumper. And thanks, Jimbobwolf for corroborating. Hope we both get what we deserve from this tough war!

Any word yet on when this might be rectified? Looks like this was assigned to Kopites, who hasn't been active in 2 days.

Appreciate ya!

What do you want "rectified" here? The war has already been concluded, the devs will correct the issue so it doesn't occur again. The devs don't provide interim updates and are allowed regular time off like any normal employees irl. Please do not ask for updates and post on confirmed reports unless you have something new to add.

Viola_ [2823919]

Hi Cloudjumper,

The rectification we are looking for is not only for the bug to be fixed for the future, but for our war to be properly ended with Lupi not being labeled as forfeiting and both sides receiving the loot that we should be awarded.

We played the game by the Torn rules and precedents and should not be left hanging because something outside of our knowledge broke. I absolutely appreciate that devs are allowed days off, however I do not think it is in any way unreasonable for players of a game to follow up on a support ticket that has large impact upon our day-to-day functioning as players. We rely upon the rewards garnered from rank wars, and thus nobody should be surprised that something of this magnitude is being followed quite closely.

If this is not the appropriate channel for continued communication regarding the process, please let us know what the appropriate channel is, and we will gladly follow it. I do not think this is in any way unreasonable, and do not appreciate being spoken to as though I / we are out of line for following up.

Again, we very much appreciate everything the devs and admin do for this game and look forward to a satisfying conclusion to this situation.

You cannot be serious? After five brutal days of war, players are left drained, unrewarded, and completely in the dark and the response they get is

"Don't question us! We're allowed days off?"

What kind of tone deaf arrogance is that? This isn’t about your “days off” its about respect, and basic communication. These players gave everything, and instead of any understanding that they might be rewarded for there efforts, they’re met with dismissiveness. unbelievable!

CloudJumper [1636201]Staff

The settlement/refunds for any bugs is done after the bug has been addressed. This is a standard practice that applies to all bug reports. So until the bug is addressed, there won't be any reward credited to either of the faction. I am sorry, but those are the regulations and we cannot make exceptions for you.

The player literally questioned why the assigned dev has not logged in for two days. I was responding to that part specifically that the devs are allowed to have days off and you are not in the position to ask when the devs will login and get to work. If that is coming across as arrogance then so be it. I am not going to bend our established regulations here. The devs determine the importance of bug reports, once the bug gets addressed, only then we talk about compensating for what was lost. This goes not only for the bug reports but also the irl bug bounties.

This is very helpful information that none of us were aware of before, thank you for sharing that. In our minds the fixing of the situation for the future was very much separate from what we assumed was simply manually fixing the outcome of our current war. Obviously, waiting until the bug is fixed is not what folks want to hear, but if that is protocol, that is protocol. We just needed to know that. So again, thank you for sharing.

And just to clarify, at no point did I demand an answer to why the dev was inactive. That truly does not matter at all. Their life is theirs as mine is mine. I merely pointed it out  to ensure that folks were aware that a case was assigned to someone who was inactive. Again, this is likely low priority for Torn, but it's high priority for us as players (I have folks who literally are unable to do things like pay PI fees because the money they were waiting on is not in), so yes we were looking at every angle of what might impede or expedite the process.

At the end of the day it is just about communication. If it's going to take a day, awesome. If it's going to take a week, just let us know and we won't be bugging you the next day. We have zero context, so helping us understand the process will go a long way toward folks not assuming the worst of one another.

Again, thank y'all for assisting, and hopefully we'll be out of your hair soon!

What a polite response. Kudos.

You are correct in that some context as to the time and the procedure would have helped a lot here.

No, it has been confirmed, but not resolved - the icon before the post title shows you the state of each report, as per the key at the bottom of the page:

We are still patiently waiting for the rewards for the effort we put into the war. I do feel like our time isn't valued, but that is okay because we are kind, lovely people 😀.

If you guys don’t have details to add then you should stop posting comments as it looks like you are trying to rush the devs. CJ will lock this thread.

Tibit [2023328]

Dozens of players committed days of focus, coordination, and effort into this war, only for it to be lost to a bug. Ten days later, we still have no resolution, and are told not to even raise the topic. Expecting us to remain silent about wasted time and unrewarded work sends the message that our investment as players doesn’t matter.

IndyCision [2597200]

You have not lost the rewards. You will receive them once the bug is fixed. Staff have already told you this.

Stop bumping the thread with complaints/escalation requests.
