Books should be able to read more than once but instead of a certain number of uses they are able to be read again once a year, ex: Book cooldown: 365 days

JackKelly [2271177]

I have 21 unread books, and 10 that i have already read. So I could literally be reading a book nonstop forever.

You don't think that would be a little over powered, or maybe game breaking?

Dasterman [2879530]

The cooldown could be adjusted per use but honestly not game breaking, look at all these players that read a book at the wrong time in their torn careers - book no longer useable and becomes worthless, a good percentage of books are wasted and most books are acquired from mission points or monthly dp status, so why not make them more useful if we paying a lot of credits or real $ for them?

JackKelly [2271177]

It is game breaking. The following are all books that I currently own and have not read. I could cycle through these once a year forever, and most long time subscribers could do the same. I can't help that new people waste books. It doesn't take a genius to look at the perks they provide and realize that they are better saved for late in the game. And the subscriber cost is $5 a month. You also get a higher max energy and quicker energy regeneration. Those alone are worth five bucks, plus the chance of getting a book.

Provides a passive 25% bonus to all battle stats for 31 days.

Increases Strength gym gains by 30% for 31 days.

Increases all gym gains by 20% for 31 days.

Increases Dexterity gym gains by 30% for 31 days.

Gain no drug addiction for 31 days.

Reduces all consumable cooldowns by 50% for 31 days.

Happiness can regenerate above maximum for 31 days.

Increases maximum energy to 250 for 31 days.

Increases Speed gym gains by 30% for 31 days.

Increases Defense gym gains by 30% for 31 days.

Provides +20% energy regeneration for 31 days.

Doubles alcohol effects for 31 days.

Again the cooldown could be adjusted accordingly, maybe read the last reply before making a new one, and really none of those are game breaking by themselves if combined with an appropriate amount of cd

JackKelly [2271177]

No they aren't game breaking by themselves, being able to repeat them is what would be game breaking. That's what we're talking about here right?

So make a special cooldown that applies to each book? How long? 1 year obviously isn't long enough. 3 years? 5 years? Lol, so each book that has been read will have a little counter counting down for 5 years. Or would the timer be hidden?

It just gets kind of redundant making an item op, then having to add measures to keep it from being op.

Dasterman [2879530]

Again missing the key points here, the 1 year was an example first off and no it being game breaking isn’t what we are talking about, the discussion was making the books more relevant than what they are, because I’m sure there are countless players who have read a book and wished they would have waited longer into their torn careers.

There are a lot of op redundancies in this game, SE’s being one but being locked behind a money wall instead of a timer, all of the maol items that a handful of players get to hold onto for the year op af, and what does the timer being hidden have to do with this discussion?? Atleast make a decent argument if your against it

JackKelly [2271177]

Lol, you don't think a little timer counting down 5 years is comical at all?

It being game breaking is what I'm talking about, and that is my argument. You're argument is new players should get another chance to use them after wasting them the first time. Which is odd, considering "we paying a lot of credits or real $ for them?" You would think they would do a little research before using such an expensive item. Regardless, there is no sense in giving every player in the game the ability to keep reusing books, just because a bunch of nooblets wasted one of theirs.

Maol - A handful of players having an extra perk for a year does not even compare to thousands of players having an extra perk forever.

Se's - These were already part of the game, and it was underestimated how powerful they would become.  When that was realized  they were capped at 5 trillion. What you're suggesting creates a problem where there is none to begin with, and needs a solution to be released at the same time.

Last thing, even though my argument is clear as day. It isn't up to me to come up with a valid argument against a change. It's up to you to come up with a valid argument for the change.

Dasterman [2879530]

It’s really not game breaking, the solution would be an easy cooldown timer crazy Ik, oh wow someone gets an extra 30% gym gains every couple years uh oh he’s gonna be the strongest player torn has ever seen or hey everyone this guy over here got +100% passive for the second time in his 5 year torn career, it’s really not game breaking and you whining on about it doesn’t make you right, it’s almost like it was in the suggestions forums for a reason lol so no your argument really isn’t valid, it’s a concept that is beyond your reasoning and would make books a lot more relevant. So keep complaining if you want but it’s not getting you anywhere:)

JackKelly [2271177]

I'm not complaining, im just pointing out the flaw in your dumbass suggestion. Which is this, by the way;

"Books should be able to read more than once but instead of a certain number of uses they are able to be read again once a year, ex: Book cooldown: 365 days"

Once a f**king year is over powered. A five year cooldown is not overpowered, but also hardly beneficial enough to even justify doing. Funny thing, game balance.

I might would even support it, if say you lost the book after reading it, and had to wait until you received it again to use it again, but you didnt put enough thought into it to come up with something like that.

Dasterman [2879530]

Still complaining I see lol crazy cause if you would have read the other reply’s or even the post itself you might have noticed the “ex” which stands for example (not sure if you know what abbreviations are) but basically it shows how something would work but not to be taken literal, to demonstrate per say as to how it could function. Weird right? Funny how the English language works if you take the time to read something:)

also if you want to make suggestions maybe you should start your own thread? Because your making a poor argument here

JackKelly [2271177]

"Books should be able to read more than once but instead of a certain number of uses they are able to be read again once a year, ex: Book cooldown: 365 days"

You specifically said they should be read again once a year. Yeah, tricky English language. If you're going to attempt to insult someones reading comprehension, you should at least do a basic grammar check on your own writing. I've never seen such a blatant example of the Dunning Kruger effect.

Dasterman [2879530]

Eh not bothered, you lack the ability to make a decent argument and can’t see apparent abbreviations which would suggest how something would work so you keep arguing the fact the one year is what it should be but again it was an example so now your grasping at straws trying to find any reason to make another comment, good job guy lol torns ignorant player base at it’s finest

CorpZeWolVe [2055842]

Even if you were to make the cooldown 5 years, it removes the point of their original use. Do the people who used the book five years ago get a free reset or does it all start when the rule is implemented?

I don't see this clearing any sort of litmus test. You're better off just deriving a new function or item entirely from the concept, and that's something I don't see happening either.

People have been playing this game for 10 years plus, and it would be nice for newer users to have a reason to buy into it sure, but this doesn't really give those people an edge in catching up either. It's a redundant concept in the worst way.
