Hi long time lurker, but I remember quire vividly points were supposed to get more expensive, why are they trading so low? Better off putting points on hold like Australia's Rate Cuts.
Besides finding points have no real point except for merits.

I mean most of us use them to train....
They're trading low because the pawn shop no longer buys them at a set price, plus the game produces more points than it consumes.
Points were never really expected to rise, but used to be considered a safe investment due to the pawnshop buyout.
The thing is you have high amount of players flying for plushie and selling them to traders, whom exchange them for point which is lowering price of points and plushies in same time.
We would need huge point sink for this to change because if point price really started to grow you will only get more players to join in flying, therefor lowering price yet again.
Although there were a lot of good suggestions imho none were implemented. Best ones being probably extra energy/nerve refill for double amount of points or something like weekly reset of mission credit rewards for certain amount of points.
Point sink I’d like to see is to be able to use them for stuff like 10% extra crime skill or passive battle stats for a limited amount of time.
You really overstated the "lurker" aspect here i think.
There have been hundreds of threads about the points market issues in the last ~16 months since the change.
Basically, yes it sucks, but its not likely to change anytime soon, since ched hired an economist straight out of kindergarten, and that economist feels that we are on the right track.
Make GD great again…

Its the tourism day coming up so the points are low in anticipation of that. Plus the floor got removed
I've read that Torn also has a crazy high amount of new players this year. Considerably more than in years prior to when I began playing. Large amount of new players means a large amount of players who are poor enough to derive substantial benefit from the income that flying affords them, and that means more plushies/flowers for trade, which means more points available for trade.
This is somewhat reflected in the fact that happy jump supplies have seen an insane rise over the course of the year, to the point that the free EDVDs received from Ribaldry stock is now one of the more competitive stock blocks in terms of ROI (currently a better investment than buying second block of Sym).
