Some items you can sell straight out of the item menu.
For all others (as long as the item description shows a sell price), there should be a vendor in the city that will buy that item for that sell price.
You should almost never sell items to the vendors except basic weapons and armor. You will almost always be losing money over the alternative methods.
You can sell items in the Item Market, or in a bazaar if you own one. Be aware that if you sell anything even remotely valuable people will try to mug you after buying it if you don't keep yourself safe.
Alternatively, there are traders like myself who buy items through trades, saving you the hassle of having to do it yourself and risk getting mugged on the items.
