Hi torn!

i'll keep it short, would it be dumb if a person would go in to the 100millions and leave 1 stat (dex or def) at 10k or 100k for example? or is it recommended to keep it somewhat in balance to insure u don't lose?

Thank you in advance

Generally it would be dumb, but there are many different play styles in Torn which might seem odd but are interesting to some people.

I would advise keeping fairly balance until each stat is at least 100m, and then choose either Dex or Def. The one you choose will be your main stat and you will leave the other one behind for quite a long time. (You can choose Str or Spd as your main stat, but as you leave one behind, it will mean you can hit someone everytime, but it doesnt do much damage, or you make lots of damage but really struggle to land hits.)

You can then keep training your remaining 3 stats by keeping your chosen main stat 1.25x higher than your Str and Spd, and keeping your Str and Spd around the same as each other. If your faction has steadfast, use the steadfast schedule to figure out which stat has the highest increase each month and train that one.

Eventually you will be able to open the 50e Specialist gym for training your chosen stat and can use it straight away as you kept the required ratio.

I am 3 stat build. Def. Worked well for a while, starting to feel the repercussions now tho. If you choose def, you are taking constant dmg. If you choose dex, 1 headshot and you are toast. Choice is yours tho

The whole point of a hanks ratio is to optimise overall stat growth by opening 2 special gyms and focusing on 3 stats.

The ratio 25:20:20:7 to keep the special gyms open and the typical build is def or dex / str / spd / def or dex.

So if you have 100M of the dump stat (def or dex) you will need 357M of the other (def or dex) and 285m in str and spd.
But this is the closure point and really difficult to manage because you need to be able to train 1 stat usually for 1 month without breaking the limit.

If your dump stat is only 1M you can look at getting the 2 special gyms open with 3.57m other and 2.85m str/spd. As you proceed and the buffer grows it becomes easier to plan your training and train a single stat for a whole month. without having to switch stats and lose optimum faction benefits.

In the above scenario if it were a speed or strength month you would not be able to train without closing the monster stats gym.

Bottom line. If you want to go hanks keep your dump stat as close to zero as possible. It allows you buffer to train and makes the math a lot easier. Also you will get to get into a Hanks configuration (2 special gyms open) much earlier and the sooner you do the faster you grow.
Switching to a Baldrs ratio comes later when you are at SE levels. Then you can catch up your dump stat and eventually maybe even go balanced.

If you are planning on Hanks, balanced in the beginning will cause problems later.

*Madhannn above has done a really good job on a hanks build. He would have had those special gyms up and running in very quick time and his total stats at his age reflect that precision, and a prediliction for hard drugs.
