I was just curious on how everyone came about finding torn how your story was with it.
mine was my buddy was playing for about six months before me from a friend of his that ended up stop playing. I got into it way more than they both did. Sadly I played the game to make money and didn’t know how to really play torn very well (didn’t read the forums)

Ended up running company’s and factions before they did and never really even took a break.

what’s y’all’s story?

Was looking for a replacement game similar to dead game that simulated hacking, can't remember the name, anyways. Torn popped up, 7 years later...

Lots of new players recently it feels like more coming Into the game than before. Ched put out a community post asking for players to create torn ads a while back, and has since  pumped up the amount of online ads for torn.  Pretty sure  that has resulted  in an increase in new players.

Wholesome that your buddies got you into it I feel you I have also tried to get a few other to join.  most of them quit before level 5.

Oh ya I’ve gotten two people two to join. One being my bf that made fun of me for YEARS for playing it. Now they are on more than me!

That add got me into it, i was bored of the modern games that all feel repetitive and same at some point, and torn actually looked like you could show actual progress.

Alo410 [1986289]

I can feel that. Torn has been my second longest game I’ve played. And I’m just now really locking in 9 years too late

Played lot of games and was getting bored of all of them, never really committed to any of them and suddenly I got into text based different games and I was trying various categories, found torn and got addicted from day 1

Dude same here. I couldn’t stop. I had it as my front page back when finding remain the city could be in any page, not just looking at the map. And if you didn’t find them thy were gone right then and there.
it was a crazy goal to stay in every page till it was 100% see

IDK why he didn't just make Torn a minigame inside Final Earth, having it be a minigame in would have inherently brought a lot more interest, maybe even some small prizes in FE for achievements in Torn.

But instead we got a barely surviving Torn over here while FE thrives.

Honestly didn't like the FE mechanics though, Torn did well cause it used turn based regen (energy is turns) instead of time based (waiting out clocks for things, though that exists for edu). It's a matter of being able to do things in real time all at once when there vs waiting for actions. Turn based games ALWAYS did so much better than real time, and many switched to or started as real time to drive engagement. Well people were engaged until they were tired of that shit I guess?

Alo410 [1986289]

I know for myself have NEVER like anything turn based and things that were based off real time. Never cared for the grind but torn turned that for me. AND only torn still

Astronest was the GOAT, had tons of players too but was a pet project of some people in a much larger non gaming company who didn't think it was worth it from what I read at the time.

The mythological type ones never did very well but also never had close to that level of depth (Archmage etc.)

All of em are dead now, there's one archmage clone running that's mostly bots a few humans and no way to actually sign up for new people, but TBH it was too basic anyway.

As far as currently it's just tons of time based mobile games with pay to pass time.

I didn't do as much research as I should've / would've, but had a long day, house was empty, and thought: "Feck it, any other decent text games out there?" Googled that = bang, welcome to Torn.

To confirm, research-wise, I thought it was a set-path kinda deal (Medic, Sapper, Sniper, Commando, etc. Hence the (user)name, I was thinking Medic) but still hella glad found the best one. Just pissed off it took me so long.

I was 15 attending a private Christian school and a friend I made there came over 1 day then showed me and a friend Torn City. We fell in love and I been playing on and off ever since. I’m a restart(RIP 787thWardog)so my days played do not reflect my actual Torn days played. All these years and I’m still here ! So many memories <3 let’s make many more !! =D

I started a few months before Dog Fighting got removed.
