What do older players find fun about Torn?

I'm a new player by Torn standards, less than a year old.

I was in a warring faction but I had to leave because I don't really have a whole lot of free time on weekends, which is when most of the RWs were. So far I'm enjoying the game, but don't really get to do a whole lot because I'm basically just focused on making money and training.

I was wondering, what do older players find fun about Torn? Once you're strong and rich, other than RWs and the casino, what are the major things that you do to keep Torn fun?

Not old, but reviving and stalking the forums are most of what I do on here. Might RW again one day and possibly going to get into trading once I finish the History Bachelor but both are not in the near future.

Torns a social sim... We be social.

As for keeping the game interesting, just setting myself challenges.. right now it's a NW of 25bn

Im in my financial responsibility arc trying to make money to hit goals 

ive got a lot of goals, enjoy pushing my stats, using my stats, seeing how far they can stretch. 

i also enjoying looking at the forums, reminiscing about how they used to be

Once you're strong and rich, there is only ever stronger and richer to aim for. Oh and merits.

There is always someone stronger and richer to compete with

Torn is a social game.

At one stage the game becomes stale due to lack of visible progress. Most enjoyable time imo is the start of game. 

Lots of older players retire/semi retire(and just go through motions)once the game become stale.

Only reason I play is due to its social aspect.

Do not chase the endgame. Instead enjoy the process, make friends and share joy in every achievement you earn

Not rich or strong but that is what I am chasing.

The game never ends. And it's the friends we've made along the way. 

I've started over more than a dozen times and it really is the community that keeps me engaged. And despite it being a terrible idea, I very much enjoyed starting over and trying dumb stuff. 

Would agree with Abs, whom I also enjoy and have glad to made a friendship with her.

I think this game is great at pursuing goals that you choose, and of course the bonds you make.

If I never played this game, I never would of met one of my closest friends now, Dsla - with whom we interact with mostly off-torn now. Never would of met Minty, Tim, etc; and while some bonds are stronger than others, it's a social game. You can choose to play whatever part you want, the villain, mugger, gambler... etc. Of course some idiots think real world harassment is funny in a game, but it's a nice break during work to play.

Events are enjoyable such as Halloween, but that's about it in my opinion. Warring is also a fun aspect, and I wish they'd fix TTY wars, because that's where the real meat of the game is, but Ched and co won't change it for whatever reason. 

Figure out what you enjoy, and go with it. Torn is really what you make it.
