Can we get a book to upgrade weapons from yellow to orange?

I dont want to suggest going from orange to red as think it would ruin the rarity of reds.

You could add in that you need to complete some education for the ability and then need the book to read it. For this. (Still brain storming)

I do think that you should have an option at the end of the book from like 3 upgrades, so say you were upgrading a yellow Yaz(Bleed) at the end you got 3 options of new bonuses at random Fury,Plunder, Frenzy, so its not so broken but also could be the worse upgrades...

Again just and idea and feel free to add thoughts down below.

It seems arbitrary to restrict this only yellows to oranges. For example, saying I don't want yellow to orange as it would ruin the rarity of oranges is the same as you saying the same about orange to reds.

Well yeah but reds are supposed to be the rarest, so having to option to make something into a red just seems unnecessary. My idea is just to have another book option and have something to look forward that could help your gameplay, not to make reds seem easy to get.

I get your point about rarity, but CS just finally introduced trade ups from Reds to Golds, and that's got real world financial consequences.

I don't hate the overall idea tbf, while using the same kinda system.

5 yellows gives you an orange from the same "collection", could go more in depth too. Chance to inherit weapon type, and bonus type, seperately.

I don't think that it works for armor though, even a 1/5th chance to roll armor with 4 guns and a piece of Riot, coming out to Vanguard, would be crazy. I think armor outright would need to be excluded, or have a separate system due to the lack of variance in armor beyond "rarer color = better"

Overall though, I do think myself wanting it, is influenced by wanting OP gear for bunker bucks prices.

Edit for my own spin - Perhaps something like a bonus reroll, for 50-75% the MV of the cache. If you got a nice stat Armalite, but with a trash bonus, for a fee reroll it for a capped bonus below the potential you'd get from a cache.

Example, Sure Shot rolls between 3% and 11%, for the fee you can reroll Powerful to a capped 6% Sure Shot

Maybe an ability to combine pieces for a % q boost and possibility to join bonuses, but with a risk of ruining the resulting weapon entirely, like in Star Ocean. With reward comes risk. The possibility for great reward means there should also be great risk.

Color wouldn't matter in this case. Hell, you could combine grays if you want.

Perhaps use this idea to combine with another part of the game: points.

You can upgrade an item but it takes materials to do so. Those materials would be points, and maybe borrow from Viciously's idea and require a second weapon to merge with the one you want to upgrade.

It would cost a large amount of points, so not something that can be done by just anyone. We're talking endgame activities here, or activities for those who really want to take a risky gamble.

Depending on various factors about the weapons and the number of points invested there will be several percentage brackets. Worst case, both weapons are destroyed and lost forever. Or it just fails. Or it succeeds. With varying degrees of success/failure between each of those. Losing both weapons would be a very low chance to prevent people from being completely dissuaded from doing this, but still a high enough chance that there is an element of risk to it.

I could see people gambling these odds, buying more DPs to play with it (wink wink ched), and of course the price of points climbing, if not skyrocketing, so someone can upgrade their yellow warlord their ideal weapon.

I had suggestion about upgrading weapons in my Trait suggestio. Basicaly you would have a change to get tiny upgrade a weapon after succesful attack. Resource cost would then be energy. So no more training for those who want to upgrade their weapons.

Upgrading weapons as a Trait perk

   * Range =  Red(Max Bonus% ) / Current Bonus %
   * (50/ range)  change to increase weapon bonus by 0.01% --> Higher the current bonus%, lower the change to upgrade%

   * Weapon quality has (1000/Quality) change to increase by 0.01%
   * 1/ 10000 change to receive second perk if weapon is on orange range or higher. This can be discarded if the perk isn't the one you are looking for

   * When bonus increases over its max bonus% threshold of the current quality, the weapon get upgraded to next level (yellow->orange->red)
   * If weapon has more than one bonus, the change of upgrade is halved, but both have seperate change to upgrade
   * When weapon has reached max weapon bonus on red and orange, the quality is improved to legendary (purple).

   * Legendary item has change to receive third bonus which is in yellow range) and quality max is increased.
   * Third legendary bonus can be from any weapon bonus type, but the change to receive it (1/10000) doesn't change.

--> You can upgrade normal vanilla weapons to yellow by reaching 100.0% weapon quality.

--> You can upgrade Special yellow weapons higher, like GAK or Rheinmetall! After the upgrades they will be worth it

With this mechanism, you could upgrade weapon from yellow to red, but it could take years.
