Many of you young bucks have absolutely no idea who I am but I use to be one of the God Mode forum posters before virtually every friend I had on this game was fedded or 27 year forum banned. I have since quit the forums cause what the hell even is this game without any friends to play it with.
Anyway, I still read the forums from time to time and I am absolutely sick of seeing thread dividends plastered everywhere.
Everyone knows you can’t buy karma in Torn but apparently you can toss out a “thread dividend” and farm karma like it’s a passive income stream.
Actual threads like mine with effort. Actual thought gone into them…. 20 upvotes, 3 comments, MAX.
Some guy hits his first happy jump, throws out an EDVD, 300 upvotes, 20 pages, and suddenly they’re a forum icon for the day and everyone is treating them like Evil Duck reborn.
To the clueless staff members and bozos who comment on threads with thread dividends… you are being. SCAMMED.
A thread dividend isn’t technically buying karma but it is A “random giveaway” of cash or items to people who comment on your thread. Not buying karma per se but more comments = more attention = more karma.
People are abusing the system and it’s not fair on genuine posters like myself who would never stoop to such low levels to pick up some online pixel karma on an online game.
To any one who still doesn’t get it, literally every mug with a keyboard is following the below playbook and effectively BUYING karma and it’s not fair on genuine posters such as Theferrett and others.
1. Post a thread. Topic doesn’t even matter.
2. Add the magic line: “Giving away a DIVIDEND”
3. Send the dividend to a friend, ideally in a rival faction so no one suspects anything.
4. Edit the log to parachute.
5. Post the “proof” log.
6. Promise another dividend to keep things moving.
7. Free karma.
No, you can’t buy karma.
But you can dangle a DIVIDEND in front of the sheep and even the regular downvoters will drop a like and comment to try win an imaginary parachute.
