My beloved Hornets; horny and not. We stung until there were no more worlds to sting.
First of all I wanted to say thank you. Each and every one of you has done amazing; stinging, charging, and fighting.
We said over and over that leads could never win the event alone, but they could lose it alone. We did our absolute best to make sure we were in a position to fight. And what a fight it was across this entire week!
I wanted to shout out some specific people who have gone above and beyond for da huve over the past week
First of all, our leads. Andrew. Holy shit, man, this worked. I don't think either of us thought we would get this far. Working with someone as skilled and trustworthy as you was a joy throughout the entirety of the event. Whatever was going on elsewhere in the event we kept each other in the loop and stayed on the same wavelength.
Leafeh, I appreciate how you filled in the gaps everywhere you could in a completely non-dramatic and unselfish way. I know the shitpost that is coming after this and I am scared but I deeply enjoyed working with you none-the-less.
Second is our tech wizards, olesien, Reconnected, zachwozn, jchawk, and late to the party but still wonderful, honorary Hornet PedroXimenez who provided us with a suite of informational tools that were critical to victory. As well as a newsie generator tool that let me not have to fight with Torn HTML every single time I wanted to send a formatted newsie.

Special mention to NickiM [2728423] who was at over 300 hits before falling prey to a dirty trick and accidentally leaving the team. I'm gutted that you weren't with us at the end.
And finally our not-always-so-secret MVP, Evaline. From the very first day, she was leading pushes, teaching our push leads, getting everything in place that needed to be there. She then started outreach, getting more and more people engaged and hitting. She DM'd nearly 180 people who were not hitting, and then a surprisingly high amount ended up hitting through her guidance. She provided me with steady advice and was there nearly the entire time to do whatever needed doing for us to win. Going to bed before we won tonight did not negate your MVP!
I do not want to do a step-by-step breakdown of what went down in this eliminations except to say it was an absolutely wild ride. Despite the sometimes boring nature of the team eliminations in the middle there was huge amounts of tension, work, effort, and maneuvering that went on behind the scenes to make it look so smooth. I'm sure large portions of the story behind those decisions and alliances will be in whatever wrap-up article appears. Some of it will even be true!
I did not expect to be elected lead, I did not expect to spend 18 hours a day on Torn, I didn't expect Discord to shadow ban our first server (not for Hornet porn, but the AI Hornet story is better), and I definitely didn't expect to win. This was my first elims experience entirely, my first elims lead experience, and I understand now why people love elims. In the end I am extremely happy all of that happened - but the plan is to now retire with my 100% win rate as lead and clean merit sweep.
I mentioned them at the start - but all of this is credit to the Hornet swarm. So many of you contributed, each and every one of you who did attacks, who chanted in chat, who had the faith, who did for da huve. I appreciate each and every one of you. Those who didn't contribute, who did no or almost no hits, well. You're welcome for the merit. You owe that thanks to each and every Hornet who did contribute.
The amount of times "Sting the PP!" made me chuckle was a strong factor in keeping my spirits high when I was getting up at 6am. The amount of faith the team showed in us every single time we issued an order, things changed, we weren't able to tell the team what was going on. I am proud to have lead you here. I am proud of the victory.
