I’ve been trying to level up my everyday home cooking lately, and I’m curious how others approach it. What’s one small technique or habit that made a big difference in your food?

For me, it was finally slowing down and properly preheating my pan before adding anything to it—especially for vegetables. The texture and flavor improved way more than I expected.

Do you have:

  • A simple trick you swear by?

  • A seasoning combo you use all the time?

  • A “once I learned this, everything changed” moment in the kitchen?

Would love to hear what’s working for you (and maybe steal a few ideas 😄).

i do by trial and error, also i love to use all kind seasonings, if i am not familiar with a seasoning i always make scramble eggs and use that seasoning there, to see how it tastes, everyone knows how eggs taste plain, so for me scramble eggs is a platform to try new seasonings. i cook all sorts of stuff but never got into baking, maybe one day :)

Best tip for me is make everything yourself from scratch when you have the time!
make your own stock, beef, chicken, veg, etc. we keep our veggie scraps and bones in a box on the freezer till it’s full, then chuck it in a pot with lots of water for a few hours. Add to any stew, slow cook, risotto soups, ramen, etc. anything that needs liquid.
also make your own pasta, it’s not hard just a process. Freezes well just make sure you flour it before hand.
Simple flavours always wins, you don’t need to try too hard!

Go to an international food mart and buy every seasoning that looks interesting. It is normally super cheap there and then you don’t have an excuse not to use them. For example you can get cinnamon sticks for £1 in a local store but like £7 from the supermarket and it improves the flavour of some dishes a LOT.
