Don Lemon was finally ARRESTED last night in Los Angeles in connection to his participation in the ambush on a Minneapolis church!

Throw the book at him and every other one of the mobsters who violated the civil rights of those Christians.

I guess he won’t be hosting Grammys in a few days.

justified, he joined a bunch of protesters to "document the event" (get youtube views, being a failed journalist, infringing those people's freedom of religion and filming them without their consent)

protesting ICE and Trump's policies is definitely justified, but not like this, reinforcing divide&conquer and us vs them mentality.

Considering all the other attempted political prosecutions that have gone no where I imagine Don is sleeping soundly.

They didn’t even get the subway sandwich guy.

Night-Owl [3680050]

this isn't political, he joined a bunch of people disrupting a Sunday church service, filming it so he can post something on youtube (don't do that, when I saw someone filming me with his phone during an altercation I had to restrain myself not to break his teeth and his phone)

he was a "host on CNN from 2014 until 2023", but now he's a youtube grifter chasing ad revenue.

Of course it’s not political.

That’s why they’ve already tried to charge him and failed, took it to appeals and failed and now they’re trying again.

Wernt you the guy posting about a big global censorship conspiracy yesterday, but now your imagination stops at the idea that the guy that’s done loads of political prosecutions is doing another.

You need to get your tinfoil hat calibrated dude.

"but now he's a youtube grifter chasing ad revenue."

Thats not an argument you can bring up and win, coming from the side that supported and worshipped youtubers, podcasters, etc

Hows your role model Tucker doing as a grifter?

Bhappychap [2270497]

Literally every charge they have tried has failed.

Because its all f**king theatre, and that 30% just can't piece it together.

Unlucky [2472585]

I wonder if they will submit fake grand jury reports in this one because they couldn’t get the jury to indict them on what they wanted.

If they weren’t so incompetent it may be concerning.

Night-Owl [3680050]

Tucker isn't my rolemodel, I'm European and I don't really care about American politics.

all I'm saying, if you see people protesting outside a church/mosque/synagogue and you want to join them, that's probably fine.

if they go in to disrupt the religious service though, you shouldn't follow them if you want to avoid police trouble.

"I'm a journalist, I'm doing a podcast on youtube and x.com" won't cut it.

Bhappychap [2270497]

You should try not using Rightwing propaganda then. We have a history of wanna-be putins making youtube channels after their News stints. One of them made it into the Sec of Def.

if they go in to disrupt the religious service though

Well we think the Gestapo shouldn't go into churches for "illegals", yet here we are.

I personally think protesting at a place of worship is 100% ok, if the government thinks its ok to go against FACE, and other laws affecting congregations and such to "grab people".

I could give two shits about Don Lemon, it could be anyone. Anything that shines a light on this administrations "governance". But mainly, everything this administration has done has been a failure, and obvious attempts at going after people they don't like, so this is getting washed into that.

To put this into context, unless something has changed from last week, there are not actually any charges filed against Don Lemon. There is only a "criminal complaint" which can allow federal police to detain someone before grand juries etc have finished. These tended to be used only in extreme circumstances but Trump's DOJ has been using them very liberally.

the reason Don Lemon wasn't arrested earlier is because a magistrate judge flatly refused to sign off on the complaint against Lemon. DOJ tried to appeal this, though it is not generally something you actually appeal.. They apparently managed to get someone to sign off.

It remains to be seen if Trump's minions will be able to actually even formally charge the church protestors with anything. All the arrests so far have been under complaint and not indictment, and I haven't seen any news of them securing indictments yet. Trump DOJ is more interested in a perp walk to post on Twitter than they are actually constricting a legally sound prosecution.

Steppenwulf [2960257]

What you're describing is the usual process of all criminal prosecutions in the USA.  A criminal complaint is lodged, usually by the arresting officer with witness statements as evidence.  This is presented to a Judge who sets an initial bail.  In the case of the 3 who were released quickly after their arrest, the judge gave them a release on their own recognisence, which is not particularly strange, except that they were not staying at their own homes when they were arrested, they were staying in hotels, which certainly gives reason to question the liklihood of their fleeing or evading arrest/prosecution.

People who can't afford bail, or who are denied bail, sit in jail for up to 30 days - the window for an indictment by Grand Jury.  If the Grand Jury is delayed byond that, the suspects are usually released from jail at that time, unless extenuating circumstances are argued in court and an extension is granted by a judge.

Anyway, the point is just because a judge gave them ROC doesn't mean they are innocent or the charges are bogus.  And just because a judge was extra careful not to endorse charges against a famous media personality, has nothing to do with whether his actions were criminal.

windyrockbell [2805009]

The unusual part here is that the magistrate judge denied the complaint filed against Don Lemon and the DOJ began fumbling around trying to get a different judge to overrule him.

Criminal complaints leading to arrest before a grand jury indictment is not the process for everyone either. For example, Donald Trump was not arrested in New York until after a grand jury had indicted him.

I am not trying to claim the use of criminal complaints is inherently suspect, but Trump's DOJ already has a track history of rushing to getting a photo op of someone in handcuffs and then fumbling all the later stages, which is indicative of gross incompetence and/or politically motivated action.

Unlucky [2472585]

which is not particularly strange, except that they were not staying at their own homes when they were arrested, they were staying in hotels, which certainly gives reason to question the liklihood of their fleeing or evading arrest/prosecution.

Wasn’t this because they immediately got doxxed by right wing head bangers and they were afraid of being attacked?
