This - newer players seem to have more "luck", as do those betting smaller sums.
In the old blackjack I did the double when you lose, reset when you win strategy to max and split - huge win! Yet, for reasons, I don't play blackjack anymore.
Reasons: badluck is in equal or greater measure than good luck. Gotta quit if you get ahead.
As others have said: Don't gamble, and quit while you're ahead.
A few years ago, I started messing around with Roulette. I'd bet low to see if there were any patterns, spinning all 75 times a day. Over a few weeks, I noticed that the wheel lands on Green once or twice a day on average, and there was a vague pattern in the 2 to 4 spins before it'd land on green.
I'd bet low to spin out the wheel, then bet 10M when I thought it was going to hit Green, since the multiplier on the payout covered multiple spins at 10M.
In under a month, I was up almost exactly 1B. I kept going with the exact same strategy, but the pattern seemed to change. Before I knew it, I was down 800M (Still up 200M total). I quit while I was still ahead, and learned my lesson.
I also know a guy who lost Russian Roulette 22 TIMES IN A ROW, doing the "You lose, you double your bet" method. Literally lost everything he had (for the second time. Friends loaned him some money to get back on his feet the first time) and quit Torn over it. You can look him up, "Stallion8321[2300496]".
Don't gamble, kids. Odds are you're not gonna be one of the 5% who win big in the long-run.
