As someone who used money to "catch up", I regret it. It just turned into cache addiction.
In the grand scheme of things - the only thing that really matters, is your dedication to becoming a slave to timers.

Well it all depends, if you trade / win on casino / are an ace at poker, join a good active faction and warhit and make money in game then you don't need to use any IRL-money and you can get to 1b in less than a year.

Would one need to join the best steadfast faction out there? Cause I ate over 2 xans a day with 8% steadfast and in not even 100m yet.

To be fair he did mention a whole slew of chance/RNG methods of generating large sums of wealth in game. If we ignore the fact that you're not likely to win the lottery, and more likely to lose than win in the casino, then the income generated would allow for extra training via cans/fhc/SE's on top of normal daily grinding which would greatly reduce the time needed to hit your goals. Torn at its core mostly rewards dedication to be consistently active and patient. You grind stats and NW daily and make small numbers bigger consistently. If you are disciplined you can slowly build both simultaneously. Most players will probably never get to the cartoon level of the few with stats in the trillions or quadrillions. I guess you just have to love the game where you're at and keep playing.
