I could write up an essay on this, but the bottom line is something needs to change and someone needs to be held accountable for what is happening here.

I already expressed in public nuke channels this seemed like a completely avoidable loss, since basic vetting should have flagged this guy as an absolute NO for vault access, just based on previous experience and what was known.

But the holy grail of basic checks is just seeing what people you are going to give vault access have posted openly in the forums in the past. After getting a moment to chill out and investigate that myself, it's kind of beyond belief.

The dude was just openly posting about stealing peoples accounts and being a scammer on another game. Literally a minute tops to check a guys post history for stuff like this and you save yourself 500 billion.

I don't care if it's 9 years ago. Someone with ANYTHING like this in their history should never have access to other peoples money.

Edit: Just to confirm, I feel like absolute shit for not realising this guy was getting this kind of access, but realistically should it come down to a lead in the retirement branch/faction to be catching stuff like this?  Cope on my part but hey-o that's how I'll deal with the guilt on this one.

Good, they kicked me without notice and some other players for not being "cool" enough and only keeping Glazers in their faction, they couldn't stand the fact that I was just the nicest non-glazer gangsta out there.

Shout-out to the non leadership members though. They don't deserve this.

So 320b wasn't the member balances, it wasn't the war funds, then what was it? Who's money was it?

Except that this is the 3rd time a nuke fac has had something stolen from them in recent memory. Perhaps a chain bonus can't be helped but when does leadership take a step back and question who TF they're giving perms to? It's absolute incompetency on the part of leadership to allow it not only once, but twice in recent times. 

I'd be jumping ship immediately. 

A good safeguard should be any transaction of a set amount (30m, 50m 100m, billions) to be approved by both leader, co leader and a newly assigned role of a treasurer, to be finalized. Such protection would be good for players to not quit torn knowing their decades of hard work does not vanish because of mere few clicks by a greedy degenerate. I am drawing parallels from how RL companies run where a project cost approval is based on an employees pay grade.

RMT funds?

Something like this has been suggested whenever a vault scam occurs but the thing is, faction vault is meant to be a place for members to donate money and points for the faction's financial needs. It was never supposed to be a way to store money safely. Players started using it in that manner. 

Also this change just nerfs faction vault to be a whole lot more annoying. It introduces needless hurdles to OC payments, RW payments, giveaways, etc.

I am still of the opinion that if someone values their years of hard work so much that they would quit Torn over losing it, then they should not put their money in the trust of someone they don't know beyond Torn. Once any money is put in a faction vault, it is no longer your money (as reflected by the fall in networth) and belongs to the faction and you are at the mercy of the bankers of the faction to ever see that money again.
