How important is it for race wins. I am consistently getting 2nd or 3rd but no firsts. Should I upgrade my car more to try for firsts or are the racing points im getting enough and wins aren't that important. Im in League C

You just need racing points not wins. Save points for class B and as many as you can for class A.
Read Baldr's Racing FAQ in the racing forum (should be on page 1).
It takes 266 points to fully upgrade a class A car so that's your goal as you move up in class - to have that many (or very close to it) when you reach class A.
