Hello.

For active stock traders, unless they have an extension that does so, the way quantity sales work is often somewhat annoying - if you want to sell all your stock, you will sell *all* your stock, which, while serving the premise, sometimes isn't what's intended. It certainly isn't for people who trade stocks actively.

I personally usually estimate around 2-3% a month in active profits. What this results in, is that I want to keep certain dividend blocks, completely separate from trading activity.

It's possible to deal with this in a makeshift solution; buying blocks in their exact counts and only selling block-wise, the rounded amounts will usually show easily that a block is meant for dividend, not for trade, and the inverse.

Nonetheless, this is a very "ugly" solution, which is why I'd like to propose a simple "lock"-function - either by top-order amount, or per block, that simply will make a quantity-based sale (and a block-sale) ignore locked blocks. This may be added graphically as an icon, or simply as an additional text option besides of the existing "View" and "Sell" functions of a block.

To better clarify, an example:

Suppose the newer block is intended as a trading block - regardless of what the rates actually are, let's assume the base dividend % for the first block is 3%, and thus, the second block has an estimate of just 1.5%.

Thus, it makes sense for an active trader who presumes an average of 2% a month to trade the second block according to their strategy, but they will not want to forfeit dividends of the first block, since that amounts to 3% per month on a capital basis.

What I currently usually do to recognize them, is this:

The dividend block is rounded up, and thus clearly discernible as such, while the trade block is some random amount.

This, technically, "works". But it's an ugly solution to a very simple problem that, I suppose, should be easy to adjust from a programmatic perspective.

In edge cases such as HRG above, for instance, this becomes even more obnoxious: I did buy a dividend block as a second block, but I actually intend to trade this block and only bought out an entire block to mitigate potential losses. There is no way to discern this block's "intent" (without buying some random amount of shares on top, for example).

love the idea of being able to lock investment blocks from being sold seems like a simple and easy QoL improvement instead of having to to the weird manual shenanigans we currently have too.
