Art3mys [3456728]

I've recently started cracking, and when I tried a rig with 5 or 6 HPCPUs it cracked 3 spaces per brute force, and got heated up pretty quickly.

Now I'm using a different rig with eCPUs and CPUs and it also cracks 3 spaces per brute force and does not heat up at all.

So my questions is, what's the benefit of using HPCPUs? I'm pretty sure I'm missing something here.

HPCPUs perform better than eCPUs and CPUs when overclocked. Also once you unlock multiple chassis, the difference is really noticeable.

The HPCPUs are more powerful. So theoretically you would be able to crack more codes per nerve.

It depends on you rig set up as well.

Also check the slider bar to ensure its maxed out for your rig.

A really good source of reference is below, which gives recommend rig set ups at all level.

HPCPU consume more power and generate more heat than other CPUs, and also provide more MIPS (and consequently better brute forcing strength). While they don't seem to compare very well looking at the MIPS/power ratio alone, one thing that can't be overlooked is they take up less space than the equivalent MIPS in CPU or eCPU.

You can only place so many parts in your cracking rig, and HPCPU give you the best ratio of MIPS per space. Even with often needing more cooling and total PSU, the numbers still work out to them being well worth it.

In fact, along with PSU, HPCU end up being the only part that appears on every single known optimal rig setup at every level of education and rig size.

Space is the limiting factor so you want the most output per block and that is hpcpu.

Just realized my rig is better than the best 5 use rigs on the site in above post.  Also cools faster than nerve recovery.

We are getting a bit off topic here but just to be clear:

Both the simulator site and my sheet use an approximation for brute force strength because the exact formula for calculating brute force strength from MIPS isn't known, that's why it will show different values.

In this case you can see they both have exactly 2,793,750 MIPS. If you look closely both rigs use the exact same number of each part, just shifted around.

If you place your rig in the simulator it will show the same 6.44, and building the one I linked ingame will give the same brute force strength as yours. It's the same rig.

Hope that clears it all up!
