Patch list #425 : Radial Dirty Bomb radiation spread, Consumable item loaning, Dynamic travel icons

- Changed Dirty Bomb radiation to spread radially from ground zero rather than only affecting direct neighbors

- Changed radiation to lock down affected territories for longer based on their proximity to ground zero

Mmm.... so is it a rework or something? Or a buff?

This is the simulation of how it works:

As you can see, this is Undead Raven's territory. So we can deduce ZOB is the "ground zero" and the radiation spread from there.

In this simulation, 26 territories are affected. Territories up to 2 blocks away from ground zero (ZOB) are always affected. One territory (YIA), a xanax racket, which is 3 block from ground zero is nuked too.

With reference to the last 2 bombs that affected any territories (Shame on you RyuFive):

Chromatic - 5 territories. Chromatic has moved to the corner of the docks and dropped to 1 single territory after they caught wind about Cornhub's plan. Only their single territory (GAG) and territories that are 1 block away from it are affected.

Nuclear Fusion - 28 territories. The "ground zero" this time is XVE, which is a territory that's connected to an unreasonable number of territories, which lead to this massive fallout. 2 minor ecan rackets are lost. Again, only neighbouring territories that are 1 block away from the ground zero is affected.

There's also this old simulation/example by ched.

Burning Questions:

How is ground zero determined?

Great question. Referencing CPrinceC's DB, and the two simulation on SMTH and Undead Raven, it seems to be the "main territory" of the faction, which is the territory where you can see a logo is sitting on it. So does this mean fallout always spread from there? There's no confirmation yet, actually I am asking bogie myself too because I am quite curious about this subject. Don't think he'll reply though.

How badly can DBs ruin the map now?

Many people are already surprised at how destructive the bomb against Nuclear Fusion is. 28 territories and 2 rackets gone in sector 1 prime territories. Gotta give CPrince some credit to choose the perfect location to drop his bomb on (although I swear he's just lucky to hit such a good spot).

It seems that the new reworked fallout effect can affect up to 3 blocks away from ground zero instead of only the neighbouring territories. So, it can easily affect 30+ territories without much planning, and the poor, poor rackets.

Since it's very easy to affect a large patch of land, it'll only take 2-3 DBs to bomb away the island now (Honestly you only need 2 to nuke the bridges). Maybe about 5-7 DBs to make sector 1 uninhabitable and racket-less? Current DB circulation is 43, most are held by HOF factions and only a few are privately owned and on sale. I wonder what will happen to the map if war breaks out? Last I heard that alliances are already struggling for space? If a map war breaks out, surely sector 1-2 and the island is going to be a nuclear wasteland.

How long are the irradiated territories locked down?

Not much information yet. Patch notes mentioned it's less for territories which are further away from the "ground zero". Referencing the DB against Chromatic, the radiation is still there till now, and it has been 2 months already!

Oh no my racket income!

One of the best rackets in the map is the Illegal Casino V (400m/day) racket, let's assume 2 months, this is a loss of 24b profit in one month if one of these is hit. Remember a bomb only costs around 40b to build and we still haven't counted the other rackets that may be affected by a bomb drop yet. So far no DBs have hit any prime rackets yet, how badly this change will further hurt alliances' SE income racket income?

Overall, I believe this changes have further buffed dirty bomb's abilities and it has become more effective in choking strategic points and wiping out land/rackets from the enemy in a map war. Right then... so anyone wants to come out and try out the new changes? For science!

Good luck everyone.

Edit: Yes this is a post to pump my DB inventory. And yes I am also pussy for not dropping them.

Making them scarier and more powerful is a good thing, they're meant to be the ultimate end weapon and it was previously in a state where people could shrug them off with no real issues, they were basically an expensive stink bomb.

Hey well, if you pick up that well placed Face Mask you'll be immune to any of the radiation or disease. That's what COVID-19 and Fallout: New Vegas taught me. 👌

Not a buff of DB, it's a nerf of gains on the map as it's designed to impact more than the target where the primary use of the bomber is on a faction rather than their neighbors. Also, it means if people are actually fighting on the war should it come to that, DBs will hit themselves, it'll also hit and upset people not involved in the vendetta of the one setting it off. I'd argue it's a massive nerf to DBs.

Honestly it's literally just an income nerf for the map.

Apatxe [2813453]

They have to nerf income before the release of the next crime in 2028 (as scheduled). So much for our economy was in good shape.

Gladion20 [1832984]

Did they change it because the last two DBs dropped actually did this, but they deemed they were bugs and they weren't supposed to do this, and generally people thought it was cool that it slowly spread.

In my 20 years here, I’ve never been able to afford a DB, but I do think it’s high-time that some of the metrics here get shaken up. It’d be nice to be have ways to wreak more havoc when you acquire one. It’s a dirty bomb for puck-sake. It should cause some chaos.

it’s just nice to see some changes are being made, and hopefully they’ll continue to tweak things between this, war, the economy, etc..

We always ask for change, then lose our minds when things change (I’m as guilty as anyone).

Would be nice if I had more faith that suggestions and changes could be implemented in a reasonable amount of time, but one thing at a time.
