Hi looking for some advise or even people who's run the numbers on whats better agains dex whores, I keep hearing that sure shot is good used against dex, but I dont see much regarding focus yet, sureshot has a low percentage chance whereas focus has high chance of hit for every miss, on the face of this focus looks better so curious as to why sure Shot is mentioned more, thanks in advance

Wouldn't it depend on your speed vs their dex?   If the gap is huge and you can't ever hit them anyway, then sure shot.  If the gap isn't huge, then focus.

Sure Shot and Focus each have their own domains - that is, either one can be better, it just depends on your spd compared with your opponents dex.

It can be quite pointless to compare in most cases: Focus is better for the majority of realistic opponents, Sure Shot is an OP hail mary weapon to use against dex whores you can't otherwise beat.

I ran some simulations a while back to determine where things get a bit murky, so here are some test cases. Graphed is the Probability of "Number of Turns" (taken to hit your opponent):

Yellow: 16% Focus vs 3%

Sure Shot You can see in both graphs the mean (average, labelled "mu") number of turns taken to hit your opponent at the give dex/spd ratio is approximately 27.

In this case it seems this crossover point is when dex ~= 53.1x spd, i.e. if your enemy whores dex above a ratio of 53.1x your spd, you should switch from Focus to Sure Shot.

Orange: 20% Focus vs 6% Sure Shot

Same principle as above. This time the crossover point occurs at a ratio of 46.7x dex/spd - where the mean number of turns taken to hit the opponent is around 14.
