George is hallucinating lol, believe the calendar over him, I think he was reading info off the wiki which wasn't updated to this year (which has since been fixed)
Check your start time, your event may not have started yet, and if it has, give it some time, check in a couple hours :)

i do remember getting eggs early on, a 4 day wait like George bot says is actually insanity.
eggs spawn slowly over the course of the full event, otherwise you would just run through every egg page at the start of the event and then be sad because no more egg. As it is I'm going to run through every egg page at the end of the event and everything that has spawned will be collected in one go
