Many people asked, so I have to respond that I was in fed jail for "abetting".
The abetting rule concerns knowingly doing something. I did not know about cheating or multis. I did not gain or intend to gain anything financially.
I get contacted by a lot of newbies daily, especially when I paid for slutting. So I started offering 150m for a referral to get the Pyramid Scheme merit. TravieTime [4138139] said he referred his sister EmilyLov3sDaddy [4176436], hoping to earn the 150m. He used the wrong link, so I didn't get the merit, but still paid 150m. 

Then, without asking, he referred 2 more people:

The staff said the burden is on me to check if it looks suspicious. I am not shy of reporting suspicious behaviour (as I have done in the past), but to me, there has to be something like similar login times, something they said etc., before I am comfortable reporting. The staff mentioned EmilyLuvsDaddy [4176330] in the report as a way for me to see their similar names, but I have never seen or heard of that player before, nor do I properly check the names of some random newbies. I started checking their progress in my referrals and noticed they had the same offline time, and before I could check more, the staff put me in fed.
Also, about a month ago, I paid for bulk losses to some dicrod channel owner at 30m per 100 losses. Never checked any of the names or profiles attacking me, by this logic, I could be guilty of abetting.

Problem too is if you report something you think is against the rules they set you up w/ wording like this so they can ban your ass in the future if you report something and they claim its "facetious" reports

This is really interesting to me. I kinda see the logic, but its very "hindsight's 20/20" isn't it? No shit once you're told that someone's book club is made of multis you'll go "yeah that makes sense" but until you know, its just a normal way to recruit players isn't it? Get friends from an IRL social club to start playing?

The only point against you IMO is Emily(Luvs/Lov3s)Daddy, once they're in your referred player list, I do think that's a fairly noticeable one. (Edit- reread, only one name was in your referred list, so this is moot.)

I dunno, I've previously agreed with the abetting rule, but this enforcement of it feels weird to me. You never asked someone to make multis, you had no knowledge of the multis, the only thing working against you is you didn't stalk some newbies profiles. At that stage though, lock you up for enticement, right? Offering newbies massive cash to break rules?

You should have pleaded the 'under duress' card - it's basically a get out of jail free card even if you straight up break multiple rules and lie to everyone about it.

Worn-out jokes aside, looks like a classic staff fail - fed was totally unwarranted, could have stripped the merit (if you got it) and give a warning. It was pretty obvious you didn't intend for them to make multies just for the referrals.

Every time I read a Torn City Staff reply I remember why they're all anonymised lol, what a tedious person and response. 

The burden is never on the player to decide what is suspicious and what isn't, that's why they're a player. Christ. If you get a good samaritan that decides to do some of your work for you, that's a bonus not a given.

Seems like someone was feeling a little bored and jobsworth in this instance, or Torn would actually make a habit to go after the hundreds of players (myself having done it the most!) who have employed the thousands of loss slutters, statistically many of whom are probably committing some offence or another including multi accounts, RMT etc. Abetting for everyone!

If Torn is struggling so much with such minute offences though, perhaps it can finally hire some f**king moderators instead of a volunteer workforce, after all these years and approaching 100,000 daily players. 

I see both sides in the report. 

Some of these noobs are motivated and have deep pockets. 

If the referrals were legit, I wouldn't be surprised. 

If they weren't, I wouldn't be surprised. 

Thats a sting I wouldn't want to get caught up in. 

As much as I’d love to see a big NW get fedded for something juicy, that is one of the most pathetic fed reasons to date for abetting without a doubt.

But don’t worry, they’ll give a 10 year player a 7 day fed because they cheated poorly and got caught early on even knowingly breaking a rule.

Another day of shitty ass torn moderation, another day I’m glad I stopped giving them money out of my own pocket. 

New players are at an all time high and they still can’t afford to hire and train people with brains. One has to assume that more money has to be coming into the game, yet none of it seems to be reflected on services and quality for the player base.

What a retarded reply, how the f**k would you have known it wasn't legit? Does this staffer not understand book clubs are real? I bet many new players came here from referals from different clubs/groups.

Meanwhile it takes a year for my report of suspicious behavior to result in a fed 🙄

Then remove it or make it against the rules to pay for referals, don't blame your players when they are bringing players into the game for the company to profit from, sure multis and rule breakers will 100% slip through, but that's the same with any signup system.

He wouldn’t have benefitted if the referral was removed, he’d of been down whatever he paid out. You obviously then had an issue that the amount he paid out was a drop in the ocean for Htr’s networth.

Maybe someone from the admin team wants to google the term “abetting”. Google is free.

You can "purchase" a lot of merits. Unless you start seperating them into catagories you can purchase and not purchase then that is a bit of a strange thing to say.

I get it, but paying for referrals is NOT illegal. I asked around before doing it, and the staff member himself said in the report.

I did not benefit from his cheating in any way, did not gain merit, and sent him 150m.

Oman and his vengeance seeking messages of "see staff notes" will never end. Your friends cheated, you aided them, put your big boy pants on and grow up. Cheats are cheats regardless of faction fyi, doesn't matter who or where they come from.
