🧭 Torn Beginner Guide

This guide covers the most important mechanics for new players: leveling, training, candy jumps, happy jumps, traveling, private islands, and early money strategies.

🥊 Fastest Ways to Level Up

Your first major goal is reaching Level 15.
Level 15 unlocks traveling, which becomes one of the best ways to make money.

Best ways to gain experience

1️⃣ Attack players and choose “Leave”

When you attack someone and defeat them, selecting Leave gives the most experience but avoids hospitalizing them. Many players use this method to level safely.

2️⃣ Use all your energy

Energy is your main progression resource.
Use it for:

  • Gym training

  • Attacking

Never let energy sit at full for long.

3️⃣ Do crimes

Crimes provide:

  • cash

  • items

  • nerve experience

They are a steady early income source.

4️⃣ Stay active

Logging in frequently allows you to use:

  • energy

  • nerve

  • travel timers

🏋️ Gym Training Basics

There are four battle stats:

  • Strength

  • Defense

  • Speed

  • Dexterity

Higher stats help you:

  • win fights

  • survive wars

  • mug safely

Many players focus on one stat early to become strong faster.

😊 Why Happiness Matters

Happiness has a huge impact on gym gains.

Higher happiness = much bigger stat gains per energy.

If your happiness goes above its normal maximum, it resets every 15 minutes at:

  • :00

  • :15

  • :30

  • :45

This means you must train before the next reset if you boost happiness.

🍬 Candy Jump (Cheap Training Method)

Candy jumps are a cheap beginner alternative to full happy jumps.

They increase happiness using candy and then double it with Ecstasy.

Items typically used:

  • candy from the candy shop

  • Ecstasy

Candy Jump Steps

  1. Wait until your energy is full.

  2. Start right after a happiness reset.

  3. Eat all the candy.

  4. Take Ecstasy (this doubles happiness).

  5. Train all your energy immediately.

Candy jumps are cheaper but weaker than DVD jumps.

🎬 Full Happy Jump (Large Stat Gains)

A happy jump uses items that massively increase happiness before training.

Common items used:

  • Xanax

  • Erotic DVD

  • Ecstasy

Basic Setup

  1. Empty your energy.

  2. Take Xanax to stack energy.

  3. Wait until drug cooldown is zero.
  4. Repeat until energy is high.

Jump Timing

Start just after a happiness reset:

Examples:

  • xx:01

  • xx:16

  • xx:31

  • xx:46

Then:

  1. Use Erotic DVDs

  2. Take Ecstasy

  3. Train all energy immediately

The goal is to train before happiness resets again.

🍭 Buying Candy the Smart Way

Many new players buy candy from the player market and overpay.

Instead, check Sally’s Sweet Shop in the city first.
Candy there is often cheaper than the player market.

✈️ Traveling (Unlocked at Level 15)

Once you reach Level 15 you unlock the Travel Agency.

Traveling allows you to:

  • fly to other countries

  • buy special items

  • bring them back to Torn

  • sell them to other players

Most travel profits come from:

  • plushies

  • flowers

🌍 Best Travel Routes

The best route depends on:

  • flight time

  • item resale price

  • stock availability

Always check prices in the Item Market before deciding where to travel.

🇲🇽 Mexico

Common items:

  • Jaguar Plushie

  • Dahlia

Why players use it:

  • very short flight time

  • good for frequent quick runs

🇬🇧 United Kingdom

Common items:

  • Nessie Plushie

  • Red Fox Plushie

Why players use it:

  • short flights

  • stable demand

🇨🇳 China

Common items:

  • Panda Plushie

  • Peony

Why players use it:

  • plushies often sell quickly

  • sometimes higher resale value

🇦🇷 Argentina

Common items:

  • Monkey Plushie

  • Ceibo Flower

Why players use it:

  • moderate flight time

  • consistent demand

🧳 Increasing Travel Capacity

You start with 5 items per trip, but this can be increased.

Ways to increase capacity include:

  • **Private Island with an airstrip

  • suitcases

  • faction travel perks

  • certain company perks

Players who stack these bonuses can carry many more items per flight.

🏝 Renting a Private Island

After Level 15, renting a Private Island is one of the best upgrades.

Benefits include:

✔ higher happiness
✔ airstrip for travel
✔ faster flights
✔ increased travel capacity

You can rent one through:

City → Estate Agent → Rental Market

Important:

If the island has an airstrip, you must hire a pilot or it will not function.

💰 Early Money Methods

Before Level 15:

  • crimes

  • item reselling

  • company jobs

After Level 15:

  • travel runs

  • trading items

  • bazaar selling

Travel quickly becomes a primary income source for many players.

🧠 Important Torn Survival Tips

✔ Avoid holding large amounts of cash (you can be mugged)
✔ Use energy and nerve often
✔ join an active faction
✔ set alarms for travel arrivals
✔ train consistently

🏁 Recommended Progression Path

1️⃣ Reach Level 15 quickly
2️⃣ Start traveling for income

3️⃣ Rent a Private Island
4️⃣ Continue candy jumps or start happy jumps
5️⃣ Train stats consistently

Following this progression will make your Torn growth much faster than most new players.
