I recall seeing something like this a while back and I think the falloff is really steep in the first couple months like 90%+ irc then a spike at a year and then everyone is a degen lifer with a few spikes here and there. I don't recall exactly numbers but it definitely is way back in GD somewhere

Its quite simple to pull this data using the advanced search function alone...
365 days old to 730 days old is 470,975 users,
filtering the 470,975 users via the last online status and collating them these are the brackets:
longer than 1 year: 405,385
1 month to 1 year: 44,513
1 week to 1 month: 3,705
1 day to 1 week: 2,726
1 hour to 1 day: 9,344
15 mins to 1 hour: 3,034
now to 15 mins: 2,267
so from signups over last year including those that have logged in within the last week as most are probably still quite active, we have a retention rate of 17,371 from 470,975 signups of this period. This is a 3.688% retention rate. We could tighten the initial search broken down by each month last year that the signups were from to show whether this retention rate is getting better or worse and also do analysis on what is causing this... Ill follow up with my findings.
Very interesting - so 450k of the 470k haven't touched it in over a month which is telling.
But that is only for accounts created between may 22, 2024 and may 22, 2025. (365 days old to 730 days old is 470,975 users)
(this months data is skewed by all inactive players that signed up but didnt play but still showing in my 1 week active filtering so best to discount this month and use the data from last month and prior)
the average comes out to be a 6.84% retention rate, which is damn close to my 7% spitball estimate I put out earlier in this thread!

you can see solid bumps in retention from players signing up in january-march 2022, peaks during the summer and the odd peak during recent halloweeks
