What are losses?

In Torn, losses are fights you deliberately lose to another player. Accumulating losses earns you medals/merits, which can be spent on strong permanent buffs. The catch: you need thousands of losses to make meaningful progress.

That's where loss services come in. Tracking down individual sellers one by one, negotiating terms, and coordinating fights at that scale would take an enormous amount of time. These services pool buyers and sellers together so the whole process is handled for you — for a fee. They vary significantly on how large that fee is, how often contracts are available, how quickly they're fulfilled, and how much Discord access they require just to participate.

The comparison below covers every active service. Use it to figure out which one actually works for your situation.

I'm desperately curious where you're getting your information, because at least in regards to Nebula, it's incredibly incorrect.

If you count historic data from Nebula, we average 4.67 contracts a day.  (Many of which take well over a day to complete)  We have averaged 1559.4 losses sold a day, and at our peak we've done nearly 5000 losses in a day.

I'm also struggling to understand why the number of channels a server has is relevant?  We have...  Basically one channel relevant to customers, which is to open a ticket to buy losses.  Most of the rest are for other services we offer, and have nothing to do with losses.

Just since the beginning of this year, we've had 184,407 losses sold, across 674 contracts.  Which would average 1221.23 losses a day, across 4.46 contracts a day.

I have to assume that given how wrong your information on Nebula, the largest of the services there for losses, the others are unlikely to be accurate.

ARCANE [2297468]

Appreciate your input! On reflection, I should have just gone to each service and asked directly to get more accurate numbers rather than trusting a friend to log in and give me an estimate. Will update with your info along wtih contacting other services :)

While this is not really a guide, it's a nice breakdown of where people can buy losses. I'd love to see more actual data (if that's available).

I also wonder if there is a way to measure trustworthiness. I obviously didn't hand someone a couple billion for a large contract without doing a couple of trial runs. I stuck with Nebula in the end and would certainly recommend their services.

Some things that would really make this post worthwhile:

 - user reviews

 - bulk discounts

 - possibility to buy fast losses

 - minimum required stats (sounds silly, but buying 11,000+ losses with only 15,000 defense is not a good idea)

 - confidentiality (another one of those things; you don't want people knowing you're going for that kill streak until it's done)

I can confirm its INaccuracy in regards to 24/7 services.

Contracts/Week: I count 31 completed contracts over the past 7 days (I dont feel like counting a larger sample size but I imagine its closer to 4), since we started 75 days ago we've done about 89,551 losses averaging 1194 losses/day but in the past 13 days we've done about ~37k losses or 2.8k/day.

Speed: idk i think this is pretty fast...
but usually our cheapest tier is averaging 200-350+ losses/hour depending on time of day. You can also pay more for faster losses.

Kalends [2032147]

I agree. Every service has its own unique benefits.

For example, I admin 24/7 services and we do a few special things.
- We have custom contracts for duke missions that require separate sellers per loss
- We have custom contracts that loss sellers below a specified stat threshold for the sake of super low stat buyers
- We automatically pay out loss sellers often within 30m of them doing the losses. if we're asleep/busy we make sure youve been online past hour (and aren't traveling) before paying to protect them from being mugged while asleep/abroad.
- We also track changes in the moneymugged stat of everyone with access to our loss seller channels so if someone on the inside does mug our sellers we can use that + ffscouter online time tracking to find and permahosp them until they quit the game (has only happened once).
- We also of course keep the buyer confidential until a seller claims and the bot dms them, but a few other services also do that.

Nebula:
- They have a neat google sheets thing they can take a screenshot of and send you that shows your progress to certain merits, its like tornstats but an image.

- Their premium contracts (which cost like 550k/ea and give 450k to seller) are probably super fast.
Our premiums are only 420k with 400k going to seller but not as fast. Still cheaper and way faster than standard nebula losses tho.

Phenix:
- they have prepaid contracts that let the buyer start contracts in pieces by themselves without talking to a staff members which is useful if you're extremely antisocial and doing weapons merits as you can do 100, swap, then another 100. We may do something similar eventually that at some point.

Unmatched and Canary:
- I'm not very familar with them but they're both usually very very slow to fulfill contracts
- I believe unmatched only sends payout when an entire contract is complete (which can take a day or two) while canary uses a command to request payout.
- Unmatched offers like free mansion rentals to sellers exclusive to their server (I independently offer free mansion rentals to anyone who wants one, i have like 25)

Bounty hunters Guild:
- they offer overseas losses for the defeat 100 people abroad merit (+25k per loss tho)
- I would put their speed in the medium at least rather than the currently listed slow, as they're definitely faster than phenix and faster by a lot than unmatched and canary.

Control [3797240]

That's the kind of stuff we want to know. And what a genius idea to sell losses abroad!

Based on my experience, Nebula is insanely fast. These expedited losses literally mean "drop everything, this is your new target". I was buying losses initially while my faction was being raided. And somehow I still woke up looking at a 500+ kill streak.

I'm looking forward to see what new sellers will bring to the table. The possibilities are endless. And I am very curious about these Duke related contracts.

Kalends [2032147]

Yeah, we've considered adding abroad losses to our bot but given its limited use (most buyers probably already have the merit) theres like 89076789 things that we want to add first.

Duke mission contracts are for a mission like Sellout Slayer.

Buy a gun from the item market or a bazaar
Use the gun against X different people
Sell the gun in the item market or your bazaar

as the only cheap way of doing it prior was contacting individual sellers one by one as in services usually sellers claim like 6-24 at once each. So we made a contract that enforced one loss per seller.

If your or anyone else has other custom contract ideas or ideas in general feel free to throw them in our 2k+ member discord server https://discord.gg/8KYGx5GDAP or you can send me them directly. I'm also happy to help in other ways not listed on our forum post https://www.torn.com/forums.php#/p=threads&f=59&t=16547903&b=0&a=0 often free of charge. (weirdest thing ive done so far was getting a factionless person a trusted target to hold cash and be mugged for that one duke mission).

I also have no idea why Unmatched's forum post got 10 dislikes while the 24/7 one only got 1

24/7's one and only dislike is from one of Unmatched's staff/admins, someone who never even used our service.
As for why Unmatched has dislikes.... well.... I'll just point to the most recent example

GenShinigami [2664617] Reporter

Respectfully, I stand firm on my belief that people selling losses should not be paid less than 350k per loss.  The goal of loss selling should be to stop selling losses as quickly as possible.  I've had plenty of people try and ask Nebula if something can be done to get losses for as low as 200k per loss.  I simply find it unconscionable. So many people, so frequently, seem to undervalue the Energy of new players, when those players are the ones who need it the most.

When other services undercut what Nebula sells at, I'm not upset because they're "competing" with us, but because as far as I'm concerned, they're hurting these new players.  We saw what happened with Reviver factions, they managed to double the value of revives because they decided their people should be getting more for that Energy.  In an ideal world, nobody should feel they "have" to sell losses.  We don't live in that world.  But I'd love to see a world where all major loss-selling operations would agree to a floor on what they'll pay their sellers.  So we aren't telling someone "You're new, so your most valuable resource is worth practically pennies."  If I had it my way, I'd see loss sellers paid 1m per loss, but for better or worse, there's no way the market will bear such a price.

I've had people complain about the price of losses.  But when you consider the time saved from buying them for the merits, and more importantly the Energy saved, it's still a steal.  It's considered borderline robbery if a faction is paying less than 1m/hit for Ranked War hits.  Even if you're trying to get your merits, say for 100 finishing hits with a specific weapon, that's 100m in Energy you're functionally spending.  Paying less than HALF of that, to get it done in a matter of minutes, hardly seems like it's overpriced.

I've had this discussion with plenty of people.  It's far from the most popular opinion.  But I refuse to let someone be paid less than that for their 25 Energy, whether they're 1 day old, or 10 years old.  However, I will absolutely die on this hill, because I want to see these new players get enough financial security, as quickly as possible, to be able to stop using their Energy on losses, and instead use it on what THEY want to.

UnmatchedGamer [3539339]

10 of our dislikes were from a competitor who tried to shut us down after some drama we weren't even involved with. Fooligan made a post about this and it brought us some heat which didnt involve us, we got caught up in some nonsense unfortunately.

The comment/bad review you have highlighted is from someone that chose the lowest priority contract and unfortunately at that time we received multiple higher priority contracts which delayed this one further. This was all explained to the client but they were understandably still disappointed, which we have learnt from.
