Maybe just add a simple button in your property to allow your Vault to auto-pay towards your Upkeep each day. Might just be a minor QOL addition, but still a nice little addition nonetheless.

To be specific, this would only be for properties you own specifically. This could also just be made into it's own "vault" even, like a Pre-pay option perhaps.

I feel like it was more meant to be a system to sorta keep new players in check, in a way? Don't want a new player just instantly getting a maxed out PI from somewhere for free and having all the benefits off rip with no sort of drawback, yknow? The only issue is that the Torn economy these days is a way past where it once was and properties just haven't been updated in any way to match it.

This used to be a thing and then later removed because some people logged on finding themselves in a massive debt.

I mean if they were gone a long time that is on them then. no different than leaving for a long time now, upkeep is going to pile up.

if it was just a bug then I'm sure it shouldn't be too hard to sort out

Tsume [195620]

It is different.. one makes you go into the negative by default, the other one doesn't, and you can pay on your terms and besides that, you can't go negative in your money just the debt increases.

I feel like you misunderstand what my post entails... If you turn on the auto-pay and cant afford the whole thing, the rest just becomes standard upkeep until you do have enough to pay it off. And upkeep is debt, which still counts as a negative to your money because you have to pay that debt off eventually for several reasons.

That's also why I added the idea of being able to pay it from your vault instead of directly as well. so that your money isn't being pulled straight from your pocket when you get it if you have a bunch of upkeep built up for whatever reason.

And like I said before, if your upkeep builds up that high then you were either gone from the game for a long time or bit off more than you could chew getting a property you couldn't afford yet. Either way, that's on the player who chose to do so

This has been requested several times in the past, you can find Ched's response [HERE]. To sum it up, upkeep really isn't meant to be an everyday concern. It builds up slowly and takes a pretty long time for it to actually have negative consequences. Pre-paying or auto-paying or whatever other method gets proposed just really isn't worth the squeeze.

Mentions: PRE-PAY RENT - Tired of paying daily!!!

what's funny is how much that makes sense we already see it in director positions with companies the advertising the wages automated but a owned property doesn't have the same pattern at all its a contradiction... ched has his reasons but thinking about it then why is there a divide in principles... company vs property ownership its there is pull but the other doesn't but to argue it even myself saying but not everyone owns that's the same as not every owns a company but its there... never thought about it till reading this lol

Elizabeth [2339829]

There's a pretty stark difference between the effects of not paying your upkeep for a day or two and not paying the operating costs of a company for a day or two. One has literally zero impact on your day to day experience in Torn, the other could mean losing a star for your company. Paying upkeep, again, not really intended to be something you worry about on a daily basis. You pay it when you can, and eventually, if you don't, your max happiness decreases, which takes a really long time to hit that point. So unbelievably unnecessary to automate that process.

IMLB [3947793]

You don't pay bills automatically irl, except for subscriptions

So I consider this mechanic is working exactly the way it should be: from time to time you're obliged to deal with bills

Sprinklers [4056515]

Both Elizabeth and IMLB no arguments there at all both are sense, as both have effects for neglect but can see the minimal impact based around properties you see it more and more such as people taking short term leasing and just let them expire to get around it by not paying it at all... longer terms sure attracts duke but ways around it for them who really dig into the mechanics.. A star loss not hard to recover from also as once gained the XP its not required to have the turn over again to regain besides the weekly cap limits per star.. Nothing at all wrong with how it is now its a crimes game just interesting there isn't more options around it, like a vault UNLIMITED anyone can have using a cheap company and not ever bother using it... the mechanics leave a lot of open actions its just interesting seeing some comments on QOL relations if that makes sense.
