RS skill gain?

Hi, quick question. Is there RNG in rs gains or do we gain less the higher our RS? Here is my example, two different people, same race. He gained more than me while finishing lower. None of us have the stock or work in a mechanic shop.

Yes, it does get affected by your overall RS.

But is that against the same number of people? I think that does matter also

RS gains have diminishing returns.

Based upon the facts your provided, whoever that other person is has a lower RS than you do.  

For comparison, I just recently got 1st overall out of 100 drivers in a 100-Lap Speedway and the RS gain was <.01 (I think it was like .008)

No, it does not. Racing against more people only gives more options to finish “in the middle”. But ending first or last will give the same RS regardless of if it’s 2 or 100 racers.

In other words, ending in 10th place out of 50 or 2nd place out of 10 should be about the same RS gain.

That's not accurate.

Participant amount has a big influence so it wont be the same.

Edit: Used omanpx's predictor and it does show a big difference on both examples you said
