Why bother?

Whats the point of signing up for ranked wars if all they do is use scummy tactics? (Constant self hospitalization/flying when paired with a faction you cant actually fight) I understand not wanting your rank changed to punching bag but if you can't win/lose honorably then why sign up in the first place?

Honestly to the factions that only use those tactics suck the fun out of ranked wars. Dont get me wrong here ive flown away or ipecaced when it was less favorable for our faction a few times during wars but not consistently through the whole war. At that point all the other faction is doing is delaying our chances of being enlisted for the next war. Just take the loss. Train. Move on to the next war. Its just rude to be honest.

I see where everyone is coming from, its a solid tactic that clearly works. I was complaning while doing the thing I was complaning about, my bad. Gonna take the advice given and work on my own things.

2 words - Skill Issue

I actually sort of love it. A hopelessly outmatched faction clawing dignity points out of every opportunity they can scrape, using all the options the game gives you is always a point in this game's favour for player creativity. In a real war, every point you can abrade from the enemy, whether you lose by 100 or 15,000 points always feels like a personal victory. It's that sort of triumph despite expectation that has people cheering when they draw in a football game (i.e Cape Verde) 

It is called a Ranked War, not an Honorable War. Do you want to win wars or just get participation trophies? If you want the former, learn some god damn tactics. If you want the latter, continue crying in forums, and never learn to do better.

Well the faction you're currently fighting is winning. So I'd guess that's why.

A good Turtle can win you the war. 

When they don't push and just delay the enviable I agree it's just crap leadership. 3 days sitting in China to gain next to nothing. Surrender, time it out and you might even be allowed to get minimum score. 

Wars need a massive review imo. Termed wars are the norm most of the time and it's boring. Factions should suffer for losing. 

If the manage to keep you from enlisting next week when you wanted to, they won on some level.

To clarify, you are upset they aren't just rolling over and letting you beat them? 

Just credit card your way to the top, it's even more effortless 

Turtling is how you get wars like this, that will be spoken about with awe for generations

I wouldn't call them scummy. It's just another tactic, to prevent people being hit, and it's a great tactic, because it can even out the playing field for relatively small factions getting paired with monster factions, if the smaller factions are great with tactics. These tactics are sometimes more powerful than pure stats. Sometimes it does change the outcome, because we're preparing for a big push. 

That's just my opinion :)

So it is only a "scummy tactic" when your opponents do it, but when you ipecac or fly away, it is just a tactical adjustment because things were "less favorable"?  You excuse your own behavior based on your circumstances, but you judge other factions as "scummy" and publicly call them out for using the exact same game mechanics to survive.

You are complaining in GD because you cannot control other players to your personal advantage. This is Torn. Your opponents are not NPCs programmed to take a beating, serve you or your faction, or fit your enlistment schedule. If you want the war to end sooner so you can move on, do better and if you can't, have your leadership offer them a deal that is actually worth their while. If you want to manipulate how others play, pay for the privilege. Until then, expect other factions to optimize for their own goals, not yours.

What’s with these cowardly boxers blocking punches and moving around the ring?  If they had any honor at all they’d both stand in the center of the ring and take turns slugging each other in the head until someone won.

What’s with these scummy hockey teams leaving a guy right in front of the goal to block shots?  They even put bigger pads on him to help him cheat.  If they had any honor at all they’d leave the goal unattended, and then we’d really see who has the best offense.

What’s with these trashy American football teams and their dirty defensive lineman?  Why are they trying to stop people making it down the field?  Sounds scummy if you ask me.

What’s with these basemen and outfielders in baseball, just standing around like losers waiting to catch the ball?  You hit the ball, you go around the bases, that’s how a fair game works.

Turtling and good pushes have gotten me decent payouts even in a total beat down so I don't think I'll ever stop personally, maybe you can try asking them super nicely?

Better to beg than to cry.... Course you could always just not do either but we're here anyways
