What happens if i start an attack and the person im attacking has 0 dollars on hand but then let's say i wait 3 minutes during the attack (which can happen theres a 5 minute cooldown before stalemateing)
And in those 3 minutes the target gets 1m from a item selling or whatever will mugging do anything?
Yes, I'm 90% sure this is how some groups handle buy-mugging since you can't syrup, while being attacked.
also if this is true shouldn't I wait as long as possible before selecting the mug option since the target can't put money in stocks or faction vault While the attack is going on it would increase the chances of other items selling meaning more money when mugged
You can safely store money during an attack, just not when you're in hospital. Barring ghost trades, as Curly has corrected below
And you can safely store money in the hospital as well, if you're using a ghost trade. So, no - you shouldn't just wait a long time. you should wait until you know they have money (e.g. you just bought some over-priced SE from them, or your friend just pulled the trigger on bullet 6 of an RR game against them) and then immediately select mug.
What? How I've tried putting money in stock as I'm getting attacked and it wouldn't let me is there a different method?

Ye I've heard about ghost trades in the hospital but idk if trading is allowed as a attack is going on
As an RR degen, I can assure you that you can add to a ghost trade in the middle of an attack...
It is, not sure how quick you can pull one off though, especially at low stats
The best protection against mugging, is just being in hospital.
Oh ok ty i guess the moral of the story is just mug as fast as possible and don't think about it too hard
I find buy mugging is just part of the game. I try not to think or worry about it. You win some you lose some
