What better a metaphor for the state of our country than leaving work to see the sky is orange, and the air is filled with smoke that makes it hard to breath.

It's happening again, a good portion of our country is currently on fire.

https://cwfis.cfs.nrcan.gc.ca/en/

But don't worry! Our government has dedicated $1.25 million to help fight the issue!

"Natural Resources Canada also announced a total investment of $1.25 million for six projects that will strengthen wildfire preparedness and response capacity across the country." - https://www.canada.ca/en/public-safety-canada/news/2026/07/the-government-of-canada-provides-an-update-regarding-the-2026-wildfire-season--july-update.html

Liberals on social media are all screaming at Doug Ford saying it is his fault!

Imagine starting a fire in your yard, you leave it unattended and it spreads into your neighbours yard, so you walk over, throw a bucket of water on it, and say "You're welcome, that's what neighbours are for".

This never used to be a thing growing up in Canada. There was always a forest fire season, but never ever this bad. Never have I seen smoke in the air like we've seen in the last 3 years.  But I guess we are expected to just accept this as a new reality, because our government at all levels is completely inept

Collete [1389080]

O did they stop backburning to prepare for fire season ?

Yeah the lefties did that here had massive amounts of forests and housing destroyed down south years ago.

windyrockbell [2805009]

Wonder why we have big wildfires in the summer that seem to be so much worse than 20 years ago?

I'm sure it's a coincidence . They should have raked the forest.

Sannemander [2088627]

You can also say it's caused by climate change, which is the objective truth, and we were already warned over a half century ago this would happen if we don't phase out carbon emissions, so the use of fossil fuels.

Climate change is greatly impacting Canada's environment and landscapes. Extreme weather has become more frequent and severe because of the continued release of greenhouse gases into the atmosphere. The number of climate change–related events, such as the 2021 British Columbia Floods and an increasing number of forest fires, has become an increasing concern over time.[2] Canada's annual average temperature over land warmed by 1.7 °C (3.1 °F) between 1948 and 2016. The rate of warming is highest in Canada's north, the Prairies, and northern British Columbia. The country's precipitation has increased in recent years and wildfires expanded from seasonal events to year-round threats.

Sannemander [2088627]

Maybe stop denying climate change and demand your politicians to phase out fossil fuels would actually do something instead of being an absolute jackass.

Jtester [2477772]

Back burning in a lot of those locations (like Thunder Bay) is controlled by the conservative provincial government, not the federal government. So not the lefties he’s complaining about in a lot of these cases

I certainly remember waking up in the north island to a very orange sky when Australia had their most significant fires.

You’ll note the two locations that have the highest density of non monitored, out of control fires (Saskatchewan and Ontario) are both conservative leaning or full conservative provincial governments (The people who actually control managing the fires)

Madgod seemingly doesn’t understand his own countries governmental structure and responsibilities, people are blaming Doug ford because it IS his responsibility to manage Ontario

So funnily enough, it is a relatively accurate metaphor if you include Madgods rhetoric. Conservative areas blaming rampant liberalism on things that aren’t even in a liberals purview to manage.

The federal government at most, assists with logistics and cross provincial loaning and exchanging of firefighting equipment between provinces and pushing for newer technologies.

”Provincial and territorial governments, in cooperation with local authorities, decide whether to and how to control wildland fires within their jurisdictions” from the Natural Resources Canada page itself.

Dwell [2738097]

Excuse me Sir, this is a Madgod P&L thread. We don't use logic here, just rage. Your well thought out sourced arguments have no place here.

We aren't even going to reference how Jtester highlighted how Forest Fire Prevention actually works in Canada and who is running it. Because if we look at who should be responsible for this, most of the arguments Madgod makes fall apart. Please refrain from that as well. Continue denying climate change and burning more fossil fuels and ignoring decades of research. Thank you for your attention to this matter.

Public Safety Canada has a large role to play, dipshit

This is exactly within their mandate.

I like how all of the left wing retards are pretending the federal government is powerless

Jtester [2477772]

I like how retards blame federal government for out of control, unmonitored fires that is the provincial and municipal governments job to monitor and control.

The only part of the federal government you mentioned was Natural Resources Canada, who do not fight and fires and only really

help the logistics of moving equipment between provinces and deploy federal assets that are too large for a single province to own (which they have to request)

And do you want to know something? Provincial governments have to request supplemental assistance from public safety Canada, and Ontarios government only requested assistance this morning (Thursday morning) on evacuations and a potential shorter deployment timeline for aerial firefighter crews.

How do you know so little about your own country, horribly embarrassing fella

https://www.snnewswatch.com/local-news/another-first-nation-ready-to-evacuate-as-wildfires-rage-12550912

“Thursday morning, Jill Dunlop, the Minister of Emergency Preparedness and Response, publicly shared a letter to Elanor Olszewski, federal Minister of Emergency Management and Community Resilience, in which she said 15 communities are either evacuating or are considering them, either because of direct proximity to wildfires, or the effects of smoke.”

”Dunlop's letter requested a reduced 24-hour lead time (from 48 hours) for federally-controlled aircraft and crews to be ready.

This request is precautionary in nature and is intended to ensure that federally controlled air assets can be made available should evacuation requirements exceed air transportation capacity available to the province,"

So basically the federal government has provided the support that has been requested, try again?

Madgod [1733719]

Its because of climate change!!!

No, we've just completely failed at dealing with the problem over the past few years

Jtester [2477772]

Yeah, those hopeless provincial conservative governments have dropped the ball horribly, a shame.

How sad you need an immigrant to explain the governance of your country to you

Madgod [1733719]

You're still wrong

Public Safety Canada could do a whole hell of a lot

Is it Doug Fords fault that Quebec, Manitoba, Saskatchewan, the NWT, and the Yukon are all dealing with out of control forest fires too?

If total number of fires are down, why is it that across Canada this has become a massive issue in recent years?

Jtester once again proving he's a brainlet
