Hi,

I had an idea that could make Ranked Wars more enjoyable without forcing players to sacrifice their personal progression.

What if Torn introduced a separate War Energy bar that could only be used for attacks during active wars?

🎯 The goal would be to separate:

  • Normal Energy → Gym
  • War Energy → War attacks only.

This would let players actively participate in wars without feeling like they are wasting months of gym progress.

I’m not necessarily suggesting adding a completely new item like a “War Xanax.”

Instead, perhaps Factions could store Xanax in the armory as either:

  • Normal Xanax
  • War Xanax

⚙️ How it could work?

When a member takes one from the armory, the faction could decide which type it is. A Normal Xanax would refill the regular Energy bar, while a War Xanax would refill only the War Energy bar.

✅ The Benefits

  1. Since War Energy would only work during active Ranked Wars (or other eligible war events), it couldn’t be used for gyms, crimes, or training, so it wouldn’t replace normal Energy or become an exploit.

  2. Another benefit would be for faction management. Many factions ask members to stack Xanax before a war, but sometimes those Xanax end up being used for gym training instead of the war. That creates frustration and makes it difficult for leaders to manage faction resources fairly.

  3. With a dedicated War Energy system, faction-supplied war resources could only be used for their intended purpose, removing the possibility of accidental or intentional misuse while still allowing players to use their own normal Energy however they choose.

I think this could encourage more players to participate in wars while keeping personal progression and war participation separate.

I’d love to hear what everyone thinks.

📝 Update / Clarification

I realized that some people might interpreted this suggestion differently than I intended, so I’d like to clarify a few things.

This suggestion is not about giving players “free” Energy or removing resource management.

The main goal is to separate personal progression from faction war resources, allowing players to continue training while still participating in wars.

Yes, a separate War Energy bar could potentially allow more attacks, but those attacks wouldn’t be free. Players would still need to invest additional resources by filling a second Energy bar, meaning more Xanax usage, higher costs, more cooldown management, and a greater risk of overdosing.

The biggest motivation behind this idea is improving faction resource management. Many factions provide Xanax specifically for wars, but sometimes those resources are instead used for gym training. While leadership can set rules, game mechanics can also support those rules by ensuring faction-provided war resources are actually used for their intended purpose.

The goal is not to make wars easier, but to make participation less punishing for players while giving factions better control over the resources they invest.

Hey vaxman, interesting suggestion, but I don't think it'll make much ground.

It seems to me that you're trying to segregate the main torn daily life (trains in particular) from war life in torn. The first issue you're running into is torn life itself. just like real life, war energy and life energy are the same. I can't pick and choose how my energy is used, I'm using it all the time. Same as torn.

Another thing is outside hits for "war energy". Who's to day I can't get into an inactive war, and use that excess E to attack other players outside the factions? or stack war-E and regular-E to have a major attacking bonus in wars? It would make attacking and chaining way easier than it is now.

As far as prpoer use of xans goes, that's on the player and the faction as a whole. If members are using it wrong the faction should handle it, not overarching torn rules enforcement.

TLDR; It seems like your main focus is on removing improper use of faction items. Instead of codifying it in torn's mechanics, it should be the leadership ensuring everything is run smoothly. Having seperate E makes attacking and chaining easier, if you can use both E to attack in war.

VaxMan [3968980]

Thanks for your feedback, I appreciate it.

I think there may be one difference in how we’re looking at the idea.

I’m actually okay with War Energy being usable for outside hits as well. My goal isn’t to change how attacking works, but to make the system more faction-friendly and allow players to continue their personal progression without feeling forced to choose between gym gains and helping their faction.

Yes, having a separate War Energy bar could allow more attacks overall, but it wouldn’t be free. Players would still need to fill both energy bars, meaning more Xanax consumption, higher costs, more cooldown management, and a greater risk of overdosing. There’s still a meaningful trade-off.

The faction aspect is what motivated this suggestion. Many factions provide Xanax specifically for wars, but sometimes those resources end up being used for gym training instead. This isn’t always something leadership can realistically prevent, especially in larger factions. A separate War Energy system would simply ensure that faction-provided war resources are actually used for their intended purpose while still giving players the freedom to train with their normal Energy.

So my intention isn’t to make wars easier or remove resource management, but to separate faction war resources from personal progression in a way that benefits both players and faction leadership.

Energy is energy.  If you do 100 sit ups, do you then have the same amount of energy you had originally, to run 100 laps?  An elite athlete might but, let's be real, that's a distinct minority.

As much as I wish both the natural and drug energy caps were higher, it feels like you're trying to over engineer something, unnecessarily.

This entire game was designed as a trade-off, while I don't completely agree with that mindset it's been made clear countless times that Chednerf Inc. want things their way and, things like this just ain't gonna happen.

You're still pretty new, tbf, so, you might realise this in time.

A big hurdle you’ll have to get over is separating torn life from warring. It’s a big energy dedication to take part in wars, as it should be. With seperate bars it almost feels like having a split life. I can choose to dedicate my natural E to myself, or the war effort, rather than fully dedicating to one side or the other. Just like in real life, I can’t be in two places at once. I can’t go to war with my gang and hit up the gym at the same time, I gotta pick one or the other

Novarius [3709924]

We dont get xanax for stacking, we just use our own and get reembursed for the xanax depending on the e used in war.

Also this would be a discrimination against all the revivers and non war  factions.

Helmstetter [2272097]

This game is all about trade-offs. To get something, you have to give up something. Being able to train AND fight at the same time goes against that.

As for factions controlling what faction-supplied Xanax is used for, well, that comes down to factions having a member base they can trust. A crime game with no risk would be not much fun at all.

Penetration [2340613]

The challenge of a game is trade offs. Remove trade off, remove all value in playing.

We might as well have...

Networth Money and Spending Money

War Perks and Gym Perks both always on

A character that stays in Torn and one that flys abroad

Individual nerve bars for all crimes

Two maps so territories can't be taken on one

Sorry but this is one of the all time fail ideas of all time, and it shows a complete lack of game design comprehension.

Crimsom678 [3415948]

Its all about give and take

If want something must give up on another thats the design

Your suggestion is a system where you can get but not lose anything thats idealistic

Giri_mon [3760877]

Participating in the war is least you can do for your faction for chugging beers and candies and all the faction perks. If you don't like to participate in wars, try joining a crime and OC only factions. Sometimes, they also needs to do chains for respect earning.

(I wonder how your current faction leader will feel about what you said they forcing you)

Separate War Energy

pdk [3626257]

The goal would be to separate:

  • Normal Energy → Gym, Crimes, Trains, etc.

Yall really need to teach chatgpt what ur talkign about. Crimes and trains do not use energy lmao

SashQ [3932257]

This suggestion breaks the economy of ranked war, and none of the listed benefits are worth the complexity.

It could work for Eliminations with minor changes.

VaxMan [3968980]

Just to clarify, I never said my faction is forcing me to do wars or that I don’t want to participate.

My post is about a game mechanic, not about my faction or my faction leader. I enjoy participating in wars. I was simply suggesting a different approach to resource management.

Cursed [1901987]

have you considered that there's more to torn than just the gym and wars?

what about missions, bounties, mugging, mercs, hunting?

also do you seriously need ai to write a few paragraphs? are you actually that illiterate?
