Welcome!
Hi! My Torn name is PAIN. I'm glad you're here.
I've been playing Torn for more than a year. When I first joined, I left the game completely due to it's overwhelming guides, gameplay mechanics and had no idea what I was doing. I wasted Energy, spent money on the wrong things, trained badly, and made many other beginner mistakes. Looking back, I wish someone had explained the basics in a simple way.
Over time, I learned how the game really works. I'm part of Lingering Insanityfaction, fought in wars, helped recruit players, and spent a lot of time helping newcomers understand the game. So I decided to make this guide.
My goal is simply to share the things straightforwardly. I wish I had known when I started.
Before You Begin
Note:It's a reference guide. This is not intended to be read in one sitting. Bookmark this guide and return whenever you need help.
Torn isn't a game that you finish in a few weeks. Many newbies think "It's just a browser game." but reality is that this game has:
Hundreds of mechanics
Lots of decisions
Many playstyles
It's a game where your account grows little by little. Every day you make small improvements, and after a while those improvements become something much bigger.
When you create a new account, don't worry about becoming rich or powerful overnight. Every experienced player started exactly where you are now.
Instead of trying to do everything at once, learn one thing at a time. That's the easiest way to enjoy the game without feeling overwhelmed.
Who Should Read This?
New players who are just getting started.
Returning players who haven't played for a long time.
Anyone who feels confused about what to do next.
If you've been playing Torn for years, you'll probably already know most of what's covered here.
Important Tip To Follow
Try to be active whenever you can.
Even spending a few minutes each day is better than disappearing for a whole week.
Use your Energy, learn something new, and slowly improve your account. You don't have to rush.
Don't compare yourself to players who have been around for years. Everyone progresses at a different speed, and Torn rewards patience.
Let's Get Started
The chapters in this guide are written in a simple order, but you can click/press on chapter to read whichever topic interests you first.
Take your time, enjoy the game, and don't worry if you make mistakes. Every experienced Torn player has made them too.
Torn Beginner's Guide
A simple guide for new players who want to build a strong foundation.
This chapter introduces the three core resources that drive your progress in Torn. Learning how to manage them from the beginning will help you avoid common mistakes and build a stronger account over time.
Understanding Torn's Core Cycle
Everything you do in Torn revolves around three resources: Energy, Nerve, and Happy. These regenerate automatically throughout the day and form the foundation of your daily routine. Using them consistently is the key to long-term success.
Energy: Your Greatest Resource
Energy is the most valuable resource in Torn. It is mainly spent in the Gym to increase your battle stats, making every future activity easier. Since Energy constantly regenerates, allowing it to remain full means losing valuable progress. Make a habit of spending it every day.
Nerve: The Path to Progress
Nerve is used to perform Crimes, helping you earn money while increasing Crime Experience. Rather than chasing the highest rewards immediately, focus on crimes you can complete successfully. Consistent success will always outperform frequent failures.
Happy: Boosting Your Growth
Happy increases the amount of stats you gain from Gym training. While maintaining high Happy is beneficial, it should support your training routine rather than replace it. Regular training with average Happy is better than rarely training with very high Happy.
How Energy, Nerve & Happy Work Together
These three resources work as one system. Energy builds your battle stats, Nerve supports your income and Crime Experience, while Happy improves the effectiveness of your training. Managing all three together creates a steady cycle of growth.
Training with Energy
For beginners, the Gym should be your main destination whenever your Energy bar is full. Strong battle stats provide lasting benefits and open more opportunities throughout the game. Don't worry about advanced training methods yet—simply build the habit of training consistently.
Building Crime Experience
Crime Experience increases as you complete successful crimes and unlocks better opportunities over time. Focus on reliability instead of quick profits. Steady progress today will make advanced crimes far more rewarding in the future.
Why Donator Status Matters
Donator Packs increases your maximum Energy from 100 to 150 and speeds up its regeneration, so 5 energy every 10 minutes, allowing you to make more progress each day. While these benefits are valuable, they are not required to enjoy Torn. It's benefit lasts for a month and can be stacked. Many players eventually purchase a Donator Pack using in-game money after establishing a stable income.
This chapter introduces the three core resources that drive your progress in Torn. Learning how to manage them from the beginning will help you avoid common mistakes and build a stronger account over time.
Your First Milestone: Level 15
Every player begins with a single objective. In Torn, yours is reaching Level 15. This milestone unlocks travel, opening the door to one of the safest and most reliable ways to earn money. Until then, focus on gaining experience consistently rather than chasing shortcuts.
Gaining Experience Faster
Experience is what pushes your player to level up. Every attack, crimes, missions and trains brings you closer to unlocking new opportunities as you level up. Don't mug and hospitalize as it gives little experience. Click on leave when winning attack, it gives more experience to level up faster. Remember to attack players having level higher than yours with low battle stats, it's efficient way of getting more experience. Such targets are included in:
Note: This tool requires an API Key. You can generate and copy a key by clickingHERE
Attack Outcomes Explained
Not every battle ends the same way. You can hospitalize, mug, leave your opponent, or escape yourself. Each outcome has its own purpose, and understanding when to use them is an important part of mastering combat.
Should You Train Before Leveling?
Many beginners rush toward higher levels while neglecting their battle stats. Stronger stats make every future fight easier. Find the balance between leveling and training instead of sacrificing one for the other.
In the beginning you must train battle stats such that your individual stats will be as follows:
Strength: 1000
Defense: 500
Speed: 500
Dexterity: Ignore it completely until you level up to Level 15.
Than your Total Battle Stats (TBS) will become 2000. You are ready to attack most high level targets with low battle stats to level up.
Making Your First Millions
Before Level 15, learn reliable methods to earn money. Easiest ways are:
Crimes
Trading with players
Find items in Torn City Map and sell them on Items Market
Always Purchase 100 items daily from Torn city Shops and sell them on Items Market
Happy, Housing & Private Islands
Note:Before Level 15, buying property is not recommended. If you had already bought, rent it and than save money and don't upgrade it. If you can't get Private Island somehow than a rental Mansion or Chalet would be great choice too.
A Private Island (PI) is one of the best properties in Torn and provides excellent benefits, including higher Happy, which improves your Gym gains. However, purchasing one costs around $500,000,000, making it unrealistic for most new players.
Fortunately, you don't need to own one. Many players rent out their Private Islands for a reasonable daily, weekly or monthly price, allowing beginners to enjoy the same housing benefits without spending hundreds of millions.
Another option is marriage. If your spouse owns or rents a Private Island, both of you can live in the same property and share its housing benefits.
For most beginners, renting a PI or living with a spouse is the smartest and most affordable choice until you can eventually purchase your own.
Crimes are one of the most important activities for new players. While they provide a steady source of income, their greatest reward is Crime Experience (CE), which unlocks long-term progression. Every successful crime contributes toward increasing your Crime Experience, making future progress much easier.
Every new player begins with a maximum 15 Nerve. As your Crime Experience grows, your maximum Nerve increases by 5 NNB (Natural Nerve Bar) at a time. CE isn't completely invisible. Inside Organized Crimes recruitment, players are often sorted roughly by CE. It's not perfect, but it gives an idea.
The most efficient approach is to complete crimes in the order they appear and raise each one to Level 100 before moving to the next. This usually means progressing through Search for Cash, Bootlegging, Graffiti, Shoplifting, Pickpocketing, and so on. This method keeps your success rate high and builds Crime Experience much faster than skipping ahead.
Avoid rushing into difficult crimes simply because they offer larger payouts. Frequent failures waste valuable Nerve, reduce your overall efficiency, and slow your Crime Experience growth. During the early game, consistent success is far more valuable than high rewards.
If you notice your maximum Nerve increasing over time, you are progressing correctly. Focus on consistency, spend your Nerve regularly, and let Crime Experience accumulate naturally. For players who want to master every crime, detailed crime-specific guides:
Crime Enhancers are special items that improve your crime success rate while they remain in your inventory. They can be purchased from the Item Market or obtained as crime rewards.
Using the correct enhancer helps you waste less Nerve and gain in Crime Experience faster. If you can afford one, it's a smart early investment for long-term crime progression.
Getting Started with Education
Education is one of the most valuable long-term investments in Torn. You can study only one course at a time, and each course takes real-world time to complete, so keeping your education slot active at all times is essential.
Many courses provide permanent bonuses that improve gym gains, combat, crimes, and medical abilities.
Its a debate which education course to do first but my personal recommendation to complete following education as beginner in following order is:
Introduction to Biology
BIO2127 - Intravenous Therapy >>> Ability to withdraw and deliver blood
BIO2360 - Intermediate Biochemistry >>> Gain a bonus of 10% to medical item effectiveness
BIO2370 - Advanced Biochemistry >>> Gain a further 10% bonus to medical item effectiveness
Introduction to Sports Science
SPT2440 - Strength and Conditioning >>> Gain a 1% bonus to strength gains in the gym
SPT2450 - Physiological Testing >>> Gain a 1% bonus to speed gains in the gym
SPT2460 - Human Movement Analysis >>> Gain a 1% bonus to defense gains in the gym
SPT2470 - Bio Mechanical Determinants of Skill >>> Gain a 1% bonus to dexterity gains in the gym
Introduction to Computer Science
CMT2230 - Web Design And Development >>> Unlock the ability to create websites for use in Bootlegging and Scamming
BIO2370 - Bachelor in Biology >>> Gain the ability to equip needles in your temporary slot
SPT3510 - Bachelor in Sports Science >>> Gain a further 1% boost in all gym gains
Whatever you want!
By then, you'll have a solid understanding of the game and can choose an education path that best suits your goals, whether it's combat, crimes, company management, or something else.
Honors, Awards & Merits
Awards and Honors are one of the easiest ways for new players to earn Merit Points. Many early achievements can be unlocked simply by playing the game, making them a valuable source of permanent upgrades.
Merit Points can be invested into perks that permanently improve your character. Its a long debate that which perk to max first but my personal recommendation for most beginners, spend merits on specific perks to max order wise:
Education Length
Crime Progression OR Bank Interest (only if you're actively investing money)
Critical Hit Rate
Life Points
Whatever you want!
There are many easy Honors and Awards that can be earned with minimal effort. If you're looking to collect Merit Points efficiently:
Points are one of the most valuable currencies in Torn. Although they can be obtained from Donator Packs, most players buy and sell them on the Points Market, making them accessible through in-game money.
Points have many important uses, including refilling Energy and Nerve, unlocking permanent features such as the Stock Market, Race Track, and your own Bazaar, or even trading them for profit.
For brand-new players, spending Points on daily refills are not always the best value especially before Level 15. However, as your account grows, daily Energy refills become one of the best long-term investments, allowing you to train more and make faster progress every day.
Duke's Missions
Duke's Missions are daily tasks that reward Mission Credits as your reputation with Duke increases. While missions also pay some cash, the real value comes from the credits you earn.
Mission Credits can be spent in the Mission Store, which features a rotating selection of items. The best purchases are Books and Weapon Attachments, as they provide valuable long-term benefits. A good strategy is to save your first 2,000 credits for a Book, the next 2,000 for Weapon Attachments, and only spend extra credits on items like special ammunition when needed. Avoid wasting credits on basic weapons or armor, as these can be obtained more easily elsewhere.
But don't focus on Duke's mission as beginner as you may waste your time, money, energy etc. Even the easy missions are not worth for beginners. Best recommendation doing missions is after Level 15, during ranked wars, chaining and stacking.
Joining Your First Faction
Joining a Faction is one of the most important milestones in Torn. Factions provide powerful permanent bonuses that improve training, crimes, combat, and many other aspects of the game, making them essential for long-term progression.
When looking for a faction, try to join the strongest one willing to recruit you rather than settling for the first invitation. A faction with a fully upgraded Toleration tree is highly recommended, as it reduces drug side effects, overdose chance, and addiction—bonuses that remain valuable throughout your entire Torn journey.
Beyond perks, a good faction should have active members who are willing to answer questions, provide guidance, and help you grow. Don't hesitate to try different factions until you find one that suits your playstyle. The Faction Recruitment Forum is one of the best places to explore your options and find a community that's right for you.
Marriage Benefits
Marriage in Torn offers several long-term advantages beyond simply having a spouse. Married players can live together in the same property, allowing them to share the upkeep costs of a Private Island, making one of the best houses in the game much more affordable.
One of the biggest benefits is the collection of Honors, Medals, and Merit Points earned for remaining married over long periods. Staying married to the same player for up to 2,000 consecutive days unlocks exclusive achievements and valuable permanent rewards.
To get married:
Purchase a cheaper Ring from the Item Market or Jewelry Shop
Use it to propose, and wait for your partner to accept
Once engaged, both players visit the Church
Invite at least one witness, exchange vows, and complete the ceremony.
Since spouses share access to certain features and assets, choose someone you trust before tying the knot.
Beginner Progress Checklist
Congratulations! By now, you should have a solid understanding of the core mechanics that drive progress in Torn.
Success in Torn isn't about rushing to become rich or powerful overnight. It's about making smart decisions consistently and allowing your account to grow a little every day.
By completing this chapter, you should now understand:
How Energy, Nerve, and Happy work together as your daily progression loop.
Why spending your Energy in the Gym and using your Nerve for Crimes is essential.
Why reaching Level 15 should be your first major goal.
How Private Islands and higher Happy can improve your Gym gains.
Why increasing Crime Experience is more important than chasing big crime payouts.
The value of Crime Enhancers and when they're worth buying.
Why Education should always be running and which courses to prioritize.
How Honors, Awards, and Merit Points provide permanent account upgrades.
What Points are and how to spend them wisely.
Why Duke's Missions are worth completing every day after Level 15.
How a good Faction can dramatically speed up your progress.
The long-term benefits of Marriage and sharing a Private Island.
Remember, none of these systems are meant to be used on their own. They all work together to help your account grow stronger over time.
If you're regularly spending your Energy and Nerve, keeping Education active, completing Missions, earning Merit Points, and playing with a supportive Faction, you're already building habits that many new players overlook.
The next chapters will focus on improving these foundations and introducing more advanced mechanics.
"Those who seek shortcuts often fall behind. Those who improve a little every day eventually surpass everyone else." — PAIN
As you progress through Torn, you'll begin using drugs, boosters and medical items more frequently. These powerful consumables are controlled by cooldowns, making proper timing and planning just as important as choosing the right item.
Understanding Cooldowns
Torn has three primary cooldown systems: Drug Cooldown, Medical Cooldown, and Booster Cooldown. Each prevents players from repeatedly using powerful items and encourages careful planning instead of wasting resources.
Drug Cooldown
Every drug applies a Drug Cooldown after use. Until it expires, you cannot consume another drug. Because of this, drug usage should be planned around training sessions, wars, or important fights instead of being used randomly. Remember drugs also gives temporary negative effects to battle stats until Drug Cooldown remains.
Booster Cooldown
Energy Drinks, Candy, Alcohol and other boosters all share the same Booster Cooldown. Different items add different amounts of cooldown, while some faction perks increase your maximum Booster Cooldown, allowing larger booster sessions before reaching the limit.
Medical Cooldown
Medical items such as Blood Bags, First Aid Kits and Morphine trigger Medical Cooldown. This prevents continuous healing and forces players to carefully decide when recovering health is worth using valuable medical resources.
Going Over the Cooldown Limit
Booster and Medical Cooldowns can exceed their maximum limit by using one final item. After that, no additional items can be used until your cooldown falls below the cap.
Plan Your Cooldowns Wisely
Cooldowns exist to reward planning rather than random item usage. Learning when to use drugs, boosters and medical items alongside your daily routine will significantly improve your long-term efficiency and prevent valuable resources from being wasted.
Maximizing Gym Gains
Your battle stats are built in the Gym, and Happy is one of the biggest factors that affects how many stats you gain from every point of Energy.
Unlike Energy, Happy does not train your stats directly. Instead, it acts as a multiplier, increasing the effectiveness of every gym session. The higher your Happy, the stronger your gym gains become.
Happy can be increased using items such as Candy and Erotic DVDs. While these items provide excellent stat gains, they are purchased from other players and can become very expensive, making them difficult for new players to sustain regularly.
One important mechanic to understand is that your Happy can temporarily exceed its normal maximum. Although your natural maximum may be around 5,000 Happy, certain items can boost it all the way up to 99,999 Happy. However, any Happy above your natural maximum is automatically reset every 15 minutes, at:
XX:00
XX:15
XX:30
XX:45
Because of this, experienced players usually save their Energy before using Happy-boosting items. They increase their Happy immediately after one of these resets, then spend all of their Energy before the next reset occurs, maximizing the benefit.
This strategy is commonly known as a Happy Jump. There are several variations, including Candy Jumps, Erotic DVD Happy Jumps, and high-end 99k Happy Jumps. Each offers different costs and efficiencies depending on your budget.
For beginners, however, you don't need to worry about advanced training methods. Simply keep your Happy reasonably high, spend your Energy consistently in the Gym, and develop good daily habits. Advanced Happy Jump strategies can always be learned later once your income becomes stable.
Choosing Your Stat Build
As your battle stats grow, you'll eventually need to decide how to train them. A stat build is a long-term strategy that affects your gym progression, combat performance, and access to better gyms.
For beginners, balanced training is perfectly fine. It keeps your account flexible while you learn the game. Once you're training consistently and unlocking better gyms, you can switch to a specialized build.
The current META focuses on heavily training one defensive stat to unlock Special Gyms earlier and gain better long-term stat growth.
Common META Builds
Defense Build – Prioritize Defense, keep Strength and Speed balanced, and leave Dexterity behind. You'll absorb more damage with consistent results.
OR
Dexterity Build – Prioritize Dexterity, keep Strength and Speed balanced, and leave Defense behind. You'll dodge more attacks, but when you're hit, the damage is much greater.
Both builds are effective, but changing your build later takes a long time. Choose the style that best matches how you want to play.
For most new players, focus on building good training habits first. Your stat build becomes important only after you're regularly training, using Energy refills, taking Xanax, and unlocking stronger gyms.
Every fight in Torn is decided by four battle stats working together.
Strength determines how much damage you deal.
Defense reduces the damage you receive.
Speed increases your chance to land attacks.
Dexterity increases your chance to dodge attacks and escape.
These stats counter one another:
Strength ↔ Defense
Speed ↔ Dexterity
Landing attacks mainly depends on your Speed compared to your opponent's Dexterity, while your weapon's accuracy further affects your hit chance.
Keep these simple rules in mind:
Strength wins fights by dealing heavy damage.
Defense keeps you alive longer.
Speed helps your attacks connect.
Dexterity makes you harder to hit.
While battle stats are important, victories also depend on weapon choice, equipment, preparation, and fighting opponents whose stats you can realistically overcome.
Trading & The Item Market
The Item Market is Torn's player-driven economy where prices are set by supply and demand, not NPCs. Many items bought cheaply from city shops can be sold to other players for profit or Item Market. Prices constantly change due to wars, events, and market trends, so learning item values can become a reliable source of income.
For beginners, avoid carrying large amounts of cash after selling expensive items. Players can buy your items and immediately mug you to steal part of your money. Until you're stronger, selling to trusted traders is often the safer option.
Keeping Your Money Safe
Money in your wallet can always be mugged, so protecting it is just as important as earning it. Common methods include ghost trades, self-hospitalizing, and storing cash in secure locations until it's needed.
Later in the game, you can safely store money in a Private Island Vault, your Company, or your Faction Vault. Always think about where your cash is before logging off.
Investing Through Items
Instead of carrying millions in cash, many players convert spare money into valuable items. Items cannot be mugged and can usually be sold later with little loss, making them an excellent way to protect your wealth.
Xanax is one of the most popular investments because it has constant demand, a stable market price, and is useful for your own progression. Holding wealth in items keeps your money safer while remaining easy to convert back into cash whenever needed.
Using the Piggy Bank
The Piggy Bank is a one-time reward obtained from Duke's Missions. You can safely deposit any amount of cash into it, protecting your money from muggers while continuing to add more whenever you wish.
To retrieve your money, the Piggy Bank must be broken. Once opened, all stored cash is returned instantly, but the Piggy Bank is permanently destroyed and cannot be used again. Because of this, many players either save it for an emergency or display it as a collectible.
Starter Jobs Explained
Early in Torn, you'll be introduced to the Army, Casino, and Grocery Store. These jobs provide a small daily income while gradually increasing your Manual Labor, Intelligence, and Endurance working stats.
Working stats are completely separate from battle stats and unlock better jobs and player-owned companies later. Simply remaining employed and checking in daily allows these stats to grow over time.
Best Early Jobs
While the tutorial jobs are useful, they shouldn't be your long-term destination. As soon as possible, join a Player-Owned Company for better perks, higher income, and faster progression.
Later, when your working stats are much higher, return to the NPC careers that offer permanent rewards upon completing:
Law – Permanent bonuses that improve crime success.
Medical – Unlock the ability to revive other players.
Education – Permanent 10% reduction to education time.
These permanent perks remain even after leaving the job, making them valuable long-term goals once you've built enough working stats. See the below guide for a breakdown on the Working Stats and know when is a good time to come back to starter jobs;
Once you leave NPC jobs, Player-Owned Companies become one of the biggest sources of progression. They offer better working stat growth, higher salaries, and valuable daily perks that improve training, crimes, travel, combat, and money making.
Your Manual Labor, Intelligence, and Endurance determine which companies and positions you qualify for. Even an entry-level company job is usually far better than remaining in a starter job.
Companies are ranked from 1★ to 10★. Higher-star companies unlock stronger industry perks, making them highly sought after. Try to join the highest-star company willing to hire you, as better perks significantly speed up your overall progression.
Company Directors can also train your working stats, helping you qualify for better positions over time. Don't hesitate to apply even if your stats aren't perfect.
Racing is an automated side activity where you compete against other players using customized vehicles. To unlock the Raceway, you must first purchase a Driver's Licence from the Points Building.
Every player starts in Class E with 0 Racing Skill. Racing Skill increases by participating in races, while Driving Class advances by earning Racing Points from Official Events.
Official races reward Racing Points: 1st = 3, 2nd = 2, 3rd = 1. These points are used to unlock higher racing classes and purchase vehicle upgrades.
Custom races don't award Racing Points but still provide Racing Skill. Many players join long custom races to train their Racing Skill passively while offline.
Once you've entered a race, everything is automatic. Simply wait for it to finish and collect your rewards, making racing an easy activity to run alongside your normal Torn routine.
API Keys allow trusted third-party tools and websites to securely access your Torn account data without needing your password. They power many popular services for stat tracking, market prices, faction management, racing, and much more.
Each API Key has its own permission level, so you can control exactly what information a tool is allowed to access. Always create separate keys for different services and only grant the minimum permissions required.
API Key Access Levels
🟢 Public Key
Only accesses public information. Ideal for market tools, price trackers, and general statistics.
🔵 Minimal Key
Provides limited access to your personal data. Commonly used for basic player utilities and trackers.
🟠 Limited Key
Allows advanced tools to read more account information, including faction and stat-related data. Only share with trusted services.
🔴 Full Access Key
Grants access to almost all available account data. Only use when absolutely necessary and only with highly trusted applications.
Keeping Your API Safe
Your API Key should be treated like a password. Although it cannot directly perform actions on your account, it can reveal valuable information such as your stats, inventory, net worth, and activity. Use API section to create API Keys.
For maximum security:
Create a separate API Key for every tool you use.
Always choose the lowest permission level required.
Never share your API Key publicly.
Delete or regenerate keys you no longer use or suspect have been compromised.
Used responsibly, API Keys unlock powerful community tools while keeping your Torn account secure.
Building wealth is the foundation of long-term success in Torn. A strong income allows you to train more, travel more, invest more, and progress faster. This chapter focuses on creating reliable sources of income that continue growing over time instead of relying only on quick payouts.
Creating Passive Income
Passive income is money that continues to grow with little daily effort. While it won't make you rich overnight, it provides financial stability and allows your account to grow consistently. Banks, Stocks, Companies, and Faction rewards are all excellent long-term income sources that become stronger the longer you invest in them.
Banking Your Money
The Bank is one of the safest places to grow your money. Cash invested in the Bank earns interest while remaining protected from muggers. Beginners should generally use 1–2 week investments, allowing them to regularly reinvest larger amounts as their income increases. This creates faster compound growth than waiting months for a single large investment.
As your wealth grows, you can gradually move toward longer investment periods to maximise interest. Early on, consistency and flexibility are far more valuable than chasing the highest percentage returns.
Investing in Stocks
The Stock Market can be unlocked using Points in Points Building and offers both long-term investing and active trading. Many stocks provide permanent benefits, dividends, or valuable item rewards once you own enough shares. Beginners should focus on unlocking one stock benefit at a time rather than spreading their money across multiple investments.
While day trading can generate large profits, it also carries significant risk. Long-term investing is safer, more consistent, and allows you to earn passive income through stock benefits and dividends. Always consider a stock's Return on Investment (ROI) before buying:
After reaching Level 15, travelling becomes one of the most reliable ways to earn money. Fly to foreign countries, purchase exclusive items such as Plushies and Flowers, then return to Torn City and sell them for profit through the Item Market or trusted Traders.
Flying is low-risk, predictable, and scales as your travel perks improve, making it one of the best early and mid-game income sources.
Selling Losses
Selling losses allows new players to earn quick cash by intentionally losing attacks for stronger players seeking Defend Honors. A full Energy bar can earn around $1.4 million, making it useful during your first few days.
However, every attack uses Energy that could have been spent training. Use this method only to build your initial bankroll, then switch your Energy back to Gym training for faster long-term progression.
To become provider or buyer of loss and other services, join the most trusted platform:
Torn's community regularly hosts giveaways, raffles, competitions, trivia, and events where players can win free cash and valuable items. Keep an eye on Community Events and the Fun & Games to take advantage of these opportunities.
Every year, best recommended events to participate in as these events can make beginners a lot of money:
Halloween
Christmas Town
Organized Crimes
Organized Crimes (OCs) are cooperative faction activities that reward members with cash, Crime Experience, and long-term progression. Success depends on teamwork, preparation, and reliable participation from every member involved.
Active factions regularly run OCs and distribute successful payouts through the Faction Balance. Participating consistently is one of the best ways to earn money while steadily improving your crime progression.
Ranked Wars are one of the most rewarding faction activities in Torn. Members are usually paid for participating, while both factions receive valuable Caches at the end of every war, regardless of victory or defeat.
Faction leaders typically sell these caches, distribute profits to active participants, and keep a portion for faction expenses. Your share is deposited into the Faction Vault, where it can be withdrawn through your faction's leadership. Even losing wars can provide excellent income, especially in higher-ranked factions.
Becoming a Trader
Trading is an active income method that rewards knowledge, patience, and consistency. Successful traders buy items below market value and resell them for profit while constantly monitoring prices and demand. Small profits made repeatedly often generate more income than waiting for rare, high-value deals.
Building a good reputation is just as important as making profit. Stay active in Trade Chat, advertise competitive prices, and use trusted market tools to track values. The more reliable and informed you are, the more customers and opportunities you'll attract over time.
Items are a core part of Torn and influence nearly every aspect of the game. They are obtained from crimes, missions, travel, wars, giveaways, events, companies and many other activities. Understanding what each item category does will help you manage your inventory efficiently and avoid costly mistakes.
Understanding Items
The Items page contains filters that organize your inventory into categories, making it much easier to find equipment, consumables and valuables instead of scrolling through hundreds of items.
Weapons & Combat Equipment
Primary, Secondary, Melee, Temporary Weapons and Armour are used during combat. Temporary weapons include grenades, syringes and utility items that can dramatically influence a fight.
Medical, Drugs & Boosters
Medical Items heal injuries and reduce hospital time. Drugs provide powerful bonuses but come with cooldowns and overdose risks. Boosters include Energy Drinks, Candy, Alcohol and Stat Enhancers that greatly improve progression when used correctly.
Crime & Utility Items
Crime Enhancers, Tools and Materials improve your crime success and are frequently required for Crimes and Organized Crimes. Supply Packs contain random rewards, while Special items include unique utilities such as Business Class Tickets and Happy manipulation items.
Travel & Valuable Items
Flowers and Plushies purchased overseas can be sold for profit or exchanged at the Museum for Points. Books are extremely valuable one-time items, so most players store them safely until needed. Clothing and Jewelry are mainly cosmetic, although Rings are also used for marriage proposals.
Key Takeaway
Learning what each item category does is one of the easiest ways to improve your efficiency in Torn. Knowing whether an item should be equipped, consumed, traded, stored or saved will help you progress faster and avoid expensive mistakes.
Making the Most of Your Inventory
Whenever you obtain an item, ask yourself one simple question: Should I use it, sell it, or save it? Almost every item in Torn falls into one of these three categories. Rushing to sell valuable items is one of the most common beginner mistakes, as many become far more useful later in your journey.
Use, Sell or Store?
• Use items that improve your training, crimes, travel or overall progression.
• Sell items you don't currently need to generate cash for investments or daily progression.
• Store rare or valuable items such as Books, Stat Enhancers and other collectibles until you understand their full value.
Understanding Item Information
Clicking an item in your inventory opens a detailed information page that helps you determine its value and usefulness before making a decision.
Buy – The NPC purchase price, if the item can be bought in-game.
Sell – The amount NPCs will pay for the item.
Value – The average player market price over the last 24 hours.
Circ – The total number of that item currently circulating throughout Torn.
Following Market Trends
Clicking the Market History icon opens price charts and historical market data for that item. Tracking these trends helps you recognise when prices are rising or falling, allowing you to decide whether it's better to sell immediately or hold the item for a higher profit later.
Smart players don't just collect items—they understand their value. Learning to read item information and market trends will help you maximise profits and avoid selling valuable items too cheaply.
Armor Guide
Armor is your primary source of defense in Torn City. Every piece of armor protects specific body parts, reduces incoming damage, and can significantly improve your survivability during fights. Understanding how armor works will help you choose equipment that offers the best protection for your budget.
Armor Value
Armor Value represents how much incoming damage is reduced when the protected body part is hit. For example, if a piece of armor has an Armor Value of 40%, approximately 40% of the damage dealt to that covered area will be absorbed.
Coverage
Every armor piece only protects certain body parts. Hovering over the Coverage section shows exactly which areas are defended. More coverage means more body parts receive protection, making the item more reliable during combat.
Quality
Quality is a percentage that determines how good an item's stat rolls are. Two identical armor pieces can have different Quality values, with higher quality generally providing stronger defensive values. Whenever possible, choose higher quality versions of the same equipment.
Choosing Armor
Don't judge armor by a single number. Consider all three factors together: Armor Value, Coverage, and Quality. A balanced piece that covers important body parts is usually more valuable than one with a slightly higher armor rating but poor coverage.
Best Armor for Ranked Wars
Ranked War armor is designed for high-level PvP and often includes powerful defensive bonuses and set perks. These equipment pieces are expensive and intended for experienced players participating in competitive Ranked Wars. Beginners should first focus on obtaining reliable armor before investing in specialised war gear.
Melee Weapons
Melee weapons are simple to understand but extremely effective. Every melee weapon has four important attributes that determine its overall performance.
Damage – Determines the weapon's base damage before other combat modifiers are applied.
Accuracy – Determines how likely the weapon is to successfully hit your opponent. Higher accuracy means fewer missed attacks.
Stealth – Affects the chance of performing a stealth attack. Successfully stealthing an opponent means they won't know who attacked them, making high-stealth weapons valuable for certain situations.
Quality – Represents how good the weapon's Damage and Accuracy rolls are compared to other versions of the same weapon. Higher quality generally means a stronger weapon.
Firearms Guide
Firearms use the same core stats as melee weapons — Damage, Accuracy, Stealth and Quality — but also introduce several additional mechanics related to ammunition and firing behavior.
Ammo – Shows how many magazines and rounds the weapon carries into combat.
Rate of Fire – Determines how many bullets are fired each time the weapon attacks. Higher rates of fire can deal more damage but consume ammunition faster.
Caliber – Indicates the ammunition type required for that firearm. Different weapons require different calibers, so always carry compatible ammunition before entering combat.
Ranked War Loadouts
Ranked War weapons are among the strongest weapons in Torn. Unlike normal weapons, they can roll powerful Weapon Perks that provide unique bonuses during combat. These perks can dramatically change how a weapon performs and often determine its market value more than its base stats.
Weapon perks can provide a wide variety of bonuses, including:
• Increase Damage or Accuracy. • Restore Energy during combat. • Earn additional Respect. • Reduce an opponent's battle stats. • Increase your own battle stats. • And many other unique combat effects.
Not every perk is equally valuable. Some perks work exceptionally well with certain weapon types, armor sets, temporary weapons, or stat builds, while others have limited usefulness. Understanding perk synergy will help you avoid overpaying for weapons that look impressive but perform poorly in practice.
Ranked War weapons are also divided into color tiers based on their rarity and power: Yellow, Orange, and Red, with Red-tier weapons being the rarest and most powerful.
Combat Strategies
Weapon Experience becomes available after completing the Bachelor of Military Arts and Science education course. Every successful hit made with a weapon type increases your experience with that weapon class.
Weapon Experience is shared across the entire weapon type rather than an individual weapon. For example, experience gained using one Kodachi applies to every Kodachi you own.
At maximum 100% Weapon Experience, that weapon type receives a permanent +10% Damage and +2 Accuracy, making it worthwhile to consistently use the same weapon type as you progress.
As you spend more time in Torn, you'll quickly notice that experienced players rely on external tools, browser extensions and userscripts to improve the game's interface and make everyday tasks much easier. These tools do not play the game for you; they simply provide better information, streamline repetitive actions, and improve your overall experience.
Installing Userscripts
Many Torn enhancements are distributed as browser userscripts. Before installing them, you'll need a userscript manager.
Tampermonkey (Chrome, Edge, Brave and Chromium browsers)
These extensions allow custom scripts to run on Torn pages. Once installed, scripts can be enabled, disabled, updated or removed whenever you like.
TornTools Guide
TornTools is one of the most popular community-made browser extensions for Torn. It enhances the interface by displaying useful information directly on pages, improving layouts, highlighting important data, adding helpful tooltips, and reducing unnecessary clicks.
Because it is beginner-friendly, actively maintained, and packed with useful features, TornTools is often the very first extension recommended to new players.
TornPDA is a dedicated mobile companion application designed specifically for Torn. It provides a cleaner mobile experience, quick access to important game pages, and notifications for Energy, Nerve, cooldowns, travel and other important events.
For players who check Torn regularly throughout the day, TornPDA is one of the most convenient ways to stay connected without using a browser.
Android users who want desktop-like functionality can use Kiwi Browser or Yandex Browser. Both support Chrome extensions, allowing you to install Tampermonkey and run many of the same Torn userscripts available on desktop.
This makes mobile gameplay far more powerful, giving Android players access to many of the same quality-of-life improvements enjoyed by desktop users.
Recommended Tools & Final Tips
Torn's community has created hundreds of useful tools, websites, scripts and utilities. Whether you're interested in trading, racing, wars, crimes, stock investing or market analysis, there's likely a tool designed specifically for that purpose.
Start with TornTools and TornPDA, then gradually expand your toolkit as you become more familiar with the game. Always download scripts from trusted community sources, review the permissions they request, and regularly remove tools you no longer use.
The Tools & Userscripts section of the Torn Forums is the best place to discover new community projects, stay updated with improvements, and find tools that match your preferred playstyle.
You have now reached the end of this beginner's guide. By following the foundations covered throughout the previous chapters, you have built a strong understanding of how Torn City works and, more importantly, how to progress efficiently without wasting months correcting early mistakes.
🎯 Your Next Steps
From here, your goal is no longer to learn every mechanic immediately. Instead, focus on improving the habits that create long-term progression.
Spend your Energy consistently.
Keep Education running at all times.
Complete Crimes to continue increasing maximum Nerve.
Stay active within a good faction.
Build reliable income before chasing expensive goals.
Continue improving your battle stats every day.
Small daily improvements quickly compound into enormous advantages over months and years.
🧠 Final Advice
Torn is a marathon rather than a sprint. The strongest players are rarely the ones who rushed the fastest — they are the ones who remained consistent every single day.
Avoid comparing your progress to veteran players with years of experience. Focus on making your own account stronger than it was yesterday.
⚠️ Common Mistakes to Avoid
Letting Energy remain full.
Leaving Education idle.
Joining inactive factions for too long.
Selling valuable items without checking their value.
Sharing your API Key with untrusted services.
Spending all your money on unnecessary purchases.
Ignoring passive income opportunities.
Believing there is only one "correct" way to play.
Avoiding these simple mistakes will save far more progress than chasing advanced strategies too early.
📚 Keep Learning & Growing
Torn is constantly evolving through new mechanics, balance changes, community discoveries, and player-created tools. Even experienced players continue learning.
Make use of the Torn Wiki, community guides, Discord servers, faction members, and experienced players whenever you encounter something unfamiliar. Asking questions is one of the fastest ways to improve.
☁️ Pain's Final Words
"Pain shapes those who endure it. Every missed Energy bar, every failed Crime, every defeat, and every lesson teaches something valuable. Continue improving one day at a time, and your future self will be stronger because of it."
Stay consistent. Stay patient. Welcome to Torn City.

Visual Is great, I like the borders, but idk if thats issue of my mobile but most of lines has weird spacing between words for no reason.
All pictures are prolly AI crap, at least looks like it. Same feeling to most quotes or many phrases.. just a weird feeling.
Mr Oogway quotes are kinda cringe, sorry. You are still pretty new to this game, like I am (and my account is 4* older), Its weird to see quotes from someone who just repeats what is said million times.
Many things are not explained, Its just "do this". If this Is guide for newbies, and not speedrunners, it could be explained. But I noticed someone saying this already.
The guide Is prolly okay, but nothing new compared to X amount of other "begginer guide 20##" it is all the same.
