Does your racing skill have any effect on OC?
if not, what exactly is the point in racing?

You get merits, enter competitions to win some pretty good prizes. I've made a decent amount cash myself just racing. Plus it's fun....
As I know, every 10 RS give additional +1% to driver role in all sort of OC. Once I checked it for myself - crossing from 60 to 70 RS really give +1% to all aviable driver roles. Of course It could have been a coincidence.
Racing skill has a pretty clear connection to driver role in higher level OC's. Not sure if they have an effect on other roles in different OC's. Also keep in mind that Crime Experience always be the biggest factor in increasing CPR and the skill specific stat adds just a small part and is often capped to a certain amount.
