In a world of ruins, the beasts emerge from the hollows. They roam the land as they please. The land, the air, and the seas have been tainted.

Few survivors have locked themselves in the metro. They used the tunnels and sewers as their means of exploration. They honed their skills to become 'rats' and scavenge for supplies while the beasts roam free.

Information:

Beasts: They are described to be animals to have mutation that changed their bodies. For example, overgrown rabbits are carnivorous. A large whale flies over the skies. Wolves walked in two legs. They are dangerous.

'Rats': They are survivors who survive by going through metros and sewers since the beasts cannot fit through narrow spaces. They make use of the network to travel around and expand their reach. They use whatever they can for survival. It's human persistence that allowed them to survive for long.

Rules:

Rule 1: We will start with Paris, France. Our starting spawn is somewhere in the metro where the 'Rats' build a settlement underground to avoid the beasts.

Rule 2: Realistic weapons are to be used. No fantasy weapons like magic swords.

Rule 3: Be kind to other roleplayers. Keep the feud within the story, not in real life.

How the story spun are shaped by those who weave the thread. Whether it be cut short, or the tapestry completes, is up to the roleplayers. Let us have fun.

Paris, the city of love, famous for its Eiffel Tower, has fallen to the apocalypse. Large beasts roam the land, the sky, and the sea. The streets have been fallen to ruins, where wreckages litter around. The eyes of the beasts wander, finding their meal.

Down below, there is a hub. People have created settlements to hide from the beasts' reach. They developed weapons and agriculture. They are at at the stage where the first expedition have left and returned with news.

The city has fallen but there are still those who fight on the surface. Guns are effective against these beasts. But the loud noise will alert them and cause chaos.

One by one, they claim the underground. They fight against giant rodents with spears and clubs. The rodents fight back but with effort, the survivors won and cooked them for meals. These beasts can be hunted and eaten. This increased the resolve for everyone.

To easily name the settlements, the french men decided to use alphabets to name them. The main one is the Anatole Hub. This main hub is where the survivors group up. It is located in a metro. Military have coordinated with the Civilians to claim this metro for safety.

Only those who are trusted wield firearms and they are used for the sole purpose of defense as bullets are limited. Brave scavengers have to scurry on the surface like rats to gather more supplies.

Their main priority is finding supplies. They need supplies to survive. They need stocks of food, medicine, and materials. Creating settlements is secondary. They need to create more settlements to expand their reach. Finding other survivors are optional. Without proper establishments, the Anatole Hub will collapse from insufficient spaces to move around.

Whether they be able to survive long depends on luck. Because mistakes can cost lives. And lives are too expensive to lose.

April 30, XXXX

The light flickers in the underground caverns made from bricks. The dirty river continues to flow down, washing away the trash and debris. Unpleasant smell lingers.

There are footsteps.

One from a man wearing cloth padded shirt and wielding a flashlight that shines a beacon of light along the stone tiled walkway.

Dominique

"Moss is growing on the bricks. I hope they don't weaken the walls."

He is careful when he walks. He cautiously peeks around corners to spot danger before he continues.

And then, he hears something waddling in the water.

He peeks and sees a giant rat eating a carcass of another giant rat.

Dominique kills the light and relies on the flickering lamp light to see the rat. He carefully clips the flashlight on his leather belt and pulls a chef knife out of the sheath.

Skellington [2671472]

Name: Marley Jones

Age: 45

Gender: male

Apperance: A 6'6" Caucasian male with blue-grey eyes, a full beard and greying, light brown long hair worn in a ponytail. His preferred outfit consists of work pants, a tactical vest and army boots. His favorite hunting tool is a snare, his weapon of choice is his old Bowie knife. When needed, he knows his way around handguns as well.

Backstory: Marley is a single, retired medic. Because he had no one waiting for his return he had spent most of his active service, over two decades, abroad in various war zones. Instead of his line of work making him a bitter, cold man, it made him appreciate life more than anything. And then there was the apocalypse, during which he lost all of his posessions. That made him decide to put his knowledge and skills to use as a volunteer in a clinic. Before long, the clinic was overrun and fully destroyed by feral beasts, leaving only a handful survivors. He decided to flee to Paris, to follow up on the rumors of a survivor settlement in the metro tunnels there.

Marley sat on one of the simple wooden chairs at the table in his private spot. Not that there was much privacy, subway stations weren't exactly set up for permanent residence. Still, with the help of some scrap materials he had scavenged, he had managed to create some sort of room in one of the corners of the station.

It was a quiet morning, so he decided to do some maintenance on his knife. Since supplies were limited, there was only so much he could do. First he sharpened the blade using his whetstone, then he took it apart to give all parts a thorough clean.

When he was done, he considered grabbing a book from his footlocker, but decided against it. Instead he figured, if there wasn't anything to do anyway, he might as well try to stay in shape. He walked over to the makeshift gym opposite his makeshift room and started his workout routine.
