I'm vision impaired, and it's more accessible and less draining for my eyes compared to video games which i can only handle in small amounts nowadays.

I came played a while, faded away just mostly re-banking every few months because why not, finally discovered that factions might have fun and/or annoying real people in them. Largely staid. Still... ill be damned if i care enough to start running a company and hunting employees etc trading micromanagement. 

I haven't played my whole account ages by far, started when happy jumps weren't really known about, joined a faction called Calculating and used to do my chaining shift at 2am. Unpaid of course.

Came back years later to hear about ranked wars and ranked war gear. Got hooked again and now I'm here still. Have met some top people and keep meeting great people. I do this rather than doom scroll or argue on Facebook community pages, at least here I can attack people. You'll usually find me in faction chat just talking shit all day.

You've experienced me so far FadedOne, all those bounties you received for joining my faction would've been a funny experience and introduction to Torn

There did exist a pretty fun casino version that gave you just the results, all 75 rolls. No need to press the button and wait. I wish i could have it back. 

ooh those that were always carrying lots of millions because the faction paid out money all the time to its members. I made billions by mugging. lol. 

I used to have -FB- before my name as a faction tag, it's a shame noones does the tags like that anymore within their actual name.

There are no people who have been in Torncity.com for that long. Just imagine what it would be like. You'd just not have a life, at all! How sad would it be to be in a game like this for more than 2 decades?

I was ZX Spectrum, then Commodore 64! OK, so I'm still here because I like the casual way it plays out, I can choose what I do and don't do. It doesn't have to be nannied (press this, do that, do that, do this, can just do it as I please, or just read up for as much guidance as I need if needed)

I still play console games, though less now this a young kid, but Torn gives me the most satisfaction and easiest to play while not really concentrating all the time. And I love stats and spreadsheets.

It's certainly not for everyone, but I love it.

Thats because you are gen X I guess, so you missed the internet growing up. There were lots of games "like" Torn in the early internet. And by that I mean crappy text-based games. I played one for a long time that I really liked where you were a vampire, and it had a big community on livejournal for example. We called these games MUDs, multi-user dungeons. Torn has survived long enough that it is basically no longer recognizable from its original form, but at the core its still a MUD. 

Hobowars was another pretty successful one. 

Gen X were on an i486 PC playing a local install of Civ whilst feeling underwhelmed abt the early Internet.

So you want to learn about the early years? There were no guides, no factions, only two jobs, two gyms. No drugs, and attacking was still in beta.

C64 was my earliest system. But I also have an Intellivision and a Fairchild Channel F. And among the retro consoles, there´s NES, Game Boy, Game Boy Color, PS1, PS2, and I stopped at PS3
