If you mom didn't cook, what's another dish that makes you miss home/feel nostalgic.
For me it's congee. Rice porridge with some pork spare ribs, and a bit of fried shallots on top with green onion. My mom would make it whenever we got sick.

My grandma. She would make fried chicken like once a year so it was a treat. She would pull all the skin off and fry it so we can eat chicharones while we wait for the chicken to be made. She would pair it with refried beans and mashed potatos. Then, we would make homemade tortillas. I'd like to put the mash on the tortillas and shred the chicken and make like a taco.
Tuna fish sandwiches
Home made fried chicken is a world of its own man. I did it a few months back and it was heavenly.
Poached Haddock, poached in milk
Bubble and Squeak on Monday with leftovers from Sunday roast
Rice Pudding with a proper burnt skin on it
Big pancakes with hot chocolate pudding as a topping. Was very and very yummy
