Job?

I am only 1 day old into this game. I took the grocer job. What is the best job for me and why? Should i go for comapny jobs maybe?

don't join a company, you just started so you've got no working stats and any company desperate enough to accept you isn't worth joining

for city jobs, army is good for battle stats, and grocer is good for money

Switch to education. It has a few perks; 1 - level-depending, you can use job points to buy work stats, 2 - once you get to Principal, you get a permanent 10% time reduction off the college course lengths.

From there, you should have the work stats to get a company job, or go for Legal or Medical for their permanent passives.

I went straight into a 1 star company with rotation trains u gain more working stats on 2 then you do in torn city job. And better perks when they star up. 

Its a very long time to see a good perk from a city job joining on day 1.

Professor, at which point your 5 job points per day would give you 50 int per day on top of the 30 per day from working there (100 int for 10 points).

hey! also brand new (level 2, couple days in) so no expert, but i picked the army job and i'm doing education courses at the same time — job gives battle stats, courses give bonuses, seemed like a good combo. from what i've read, company jobs come later once your working stats are up — nobody's hiring a day-1 noob like us lol. good luck! btw does anyone want to chill on discord?

That's a bit of a complicated question, and to avoid pointing you towards Tutorials and Guides and telling you to read, and I'll start by meeting it with another question: 'What are your immediate goals?'

If you really don't have an idea or any plans on what you want to do, I recommend you leave Grocer to join the Army and invest your Job Points into increasing your Defense stat. Early game, your goal should be to get to level 15 as soon as possible so you can begin flying to other countries, and the fastest way to get to 15 is to win fights against players much higher level than you. You don't need a lot of battle stats to do this (Check out Baldr's Leveling list), so getting free defense from the Army saves you energy that you could instead use to fight against 'bunny' targets and level up faster. I HIGHLY recommend installing FFScouter wihle using Baldr's lists and learning how to use it; it's practically required for a lot of faction activities in the game, and it will inform you of whether or not the person you plan to attack is someone you can actually win against (You'll find there are level 15s with billions of battle stats, and level 100s with less than 10 thousand!).

The reasoning to this is that flying is a major source of income for the majority of players in this game; you can only buy so many items from NPC shops per day, and trying to play the player market requires a significant bankroll you simply aren't going to have for a long time. Importing the right items from abroad can earn you up to millions of dollars a day while you're waiting for your energy and nerve bars to refill. The sooner you can fly, the sooner you can make the money you need to pay for good houses (High Happy = more gym gains), good equipment, and drugs/meds to speed up the growth of your account.

As for companies: I wouldn't really join one till you're level 15 (For reasons stated above). And which one you pick depends on your goals. Do you want to make a lot of money from your job? Join any company that has perks where you can exchange job points for items. These are really popular picks because it helps players afford their goals at a semi-regular rate, but these companies are also really picky about which employees they take in (The reasons why go beyond the scope of your question). Again, if you don't have an idea on who to go to, I recommend applying for any Music Store that's at least 3*. The 3 star perk increases gym progress gains by 30%, which is huge for unlocking better gyms that improve your gym gains (Battle stats) faster. Some Music Stores are still pretty picky, but fortunately this perk is unlocked so early there's all sorts of Music Stores that are willing to take you in even without a lot of work stats.

TL;DR - If you have no specific plan, do Army for free battle stats while you push to level 15, then move to Music Store for fast gym growth. I highly recommend you do as much reading as possible from the threads listed here. They go into significantly more detail about pretty much every aspect of the game, and putting in the time to learn how everything works will set you for both short and long term success in the game. Countless players have dedicated hours of time, effort, and study into helping newbies like you thrive in a game that is annoyingly complicated at the very start; ignoring all that work is only going make learning the game way more difficult than it needs to be.

Edit: Also, a forum tip from a (relative) newbie to another because I've seen so many new players make this mistake: Avoid posting in General Discussion until you've done a lot of watching and reading. Lots of players in there love messing with the new guys who don't get the vibes of how that place works and it's really cheap and easy to disrupt your gameplay when you don't have the cash and ability to stay out of the hospital or fly.
