I missed your previous post on it, but if true about QueenWoog/-Chrollo scamming that all unironically deserves its own GD thread

Nah, being a Gold Dust member is what makes life easy, they got to top 2 because everyone wanted to carry them there. Meanwhile everyone had to claw tooth and nail.

Being an APEX predator makes life fun.

Go into your elimination event and in top right click the > and then "choose your prize".

Based on how many attacks you've done and team placement and this "elimination score" ( i don't know how it works )  there are more rewards unlocked ( only 1 to pick  )

Spot on summary. And very well played pal, so many times at crucial pushes people would be posting links to someone sitting on them and I'd look thinking 'is it Hemi again' and yes it was Hemi again

Nobody should take to heart any of the frustration by some Voltorbs aimed at Apex, we were a non drama team throughout thanks to our whole team performance and surprisingly intelligent chat heh. We totally rated and respected Apex after constantly battling you one way or another all elims. Anything done or said last night was adrenaline-fuelled copium team motivational vibes, and us doing whatever we could to generate a slim chance of success if GD turned on Apex when we were about to go out. As you say, the final outcome seemed obvious to everyone if they didn't do that.

But even when we at Voltorbs were zeroed, and even when we did that final push aimed entirely at Apex, GD didn't just sit back and wait for us to drop out naturally, and certainly didn't flip on Apex as hoped and as you speculated they could have, they kept ordering full hits on us. Tiny stat voltorbs posting lots of logs of being hit by 6 or 7 gold dust players at a time. Ah well it is what it is. Can't fault gold dust players for their consistency in going for us.

The Voltorbs vibe became every bit as good as Murder Hornets was and the party is still going strong, so I can imagine how much fun it is to be in the Apex chat/discord today. Feel very sorry for all the fantastic Gold Dust players who put in so much work and got 2nd place but didn't have the fun experience that other teams leave elims with.

Twat was a great dude in Hornets, hope he's alright right now, shame it ended for them like this.

Tldr the strongest team deservedly won as it should be, gg to all involv

I spent 90% of my time push captaining and spamming and still managed to pull off hits. Not sure I understand your excuses when all those who push lead and “spammed” were able to get more hits without throwing tantrums and trying to sell the team.

First let me say congratulations to apex! And good work everyone else who put up a fight.

Now over the course of the event I received a number of questions - or two, mainly, regarding my tool. Figure since everything is done I can safely reveal everything about it and what it does.

Sadly this is going to not have as many clickys as I'd like since I'm writing this up from my phone at work but meh.

Of course, how much did I get paid?

Two burgers.

Heavenly (who is both my in-game and IRL spouse) originally asked me to make this. Since it shares a lot of the components with a faction tool I've had in development for the past couple months it was pretty easy to put a coat of paint on it for now and release it.

The brief public release you all saw was just me wanting as many people to touch it at once (on an older build) so I could test how well it held up under load. It's a good thing too since about 900 of Apex's 1700 stayed using this over the course of the event.

Did it follow Torn's rules?

Absolutely. All of the player data I showed there was already in my database before the event even began and it used only API keys that had opted in to be used that way, and had full control to disable their key, opt-ins, and whatever else in the meantime.

The player stats and who was on each team came from the crawls I already do every day. User>profile returned which team you are on (which apparently was a bug).

Torn/eliminations and torn/id/eliminations (might be getting the path slightly wrong, just going off memory here) returned all of the stats I used for each team. I crawled the entirety of all surviving teams' lists every 30 seconds which came out to be roughly 509 API calls, but this number went down as teams were eliminated.

Battle stat estimates came from fairfight scouter that's developed by glasnost, without which this would not have been possible if not for his tool.

Even that I had before the event began which is how the tool was able to survive ffscouters own downtime. I didn't make more than 1 call/12 seconds to his service and stored each users battle stats with a 24hr TTL since there would be no reason to update their stats more often than that.

what did it do?

i could get into a whole write-up to answer this one but I would later see this from my desktop and hate my ugly idea of how to format from my phone and hate myself.

So instead I'll just share the Google docs link below which I had provided to guide apex members through using it. this includes essentially everything about it, with the exception of what the teams leadership had access to.

Thank you Weav3r. Your tool was a godsend for me whilst multi-monitoring at work without my usual 9 tabs/windows open.

VIP OG tool.

Hell ya you said it we lowbies did the best we could like I had a few fhc that I found in the city and I gave them to some of our high battle stated players or reviver just to help out. CHOMP CHOMP

tbh i think you miss the point.  If just being weak was enough to get to the top, there were plenty of other weak teams out there none of them got there.  I actually agree with you, we were far from the best fighting team.  SOmetimes the best fighting teams dont make it far either...  last year for instance I was on a team with an AMAZINGLY tight milcom running things (shout out to booniesheep) but they couldnt political outside a paper bag.  And we got eliminated somewhere in the middle.

A good team works with what you have and most teams have weaknesses and strong points. Gold Dust was somewhat sucky when it came to fighting compared to the lead teams.  A combo of who was on the team and lack of milcom experience organizing it.  I'd agree. That was our weakness.

Rocket scientists for instance you might argue had the reverse of our strengths and weaknesses.

If you think Gold Dust just stumbled into the number 2 place doing nothing by sorta Forest Gump luck you are pretty naive about how this game works.  They worked the backrooms and the politics ans maneuvered amazingly well.

Heck... if you consider how weak the team was you could make an argument that how they played their proverbial poker hand was MORE impressive.

Also if you think Apex (or any other group) didnt make mistakes you are also naive.  Apex (to their credit) are a great team and their mistakes were not fatal and they 100% deserve their win.  But they were hardly 'perfect'.

Gold Dust also made mistakes.  And yes there were plays where maybe they could have gotten 1st place with some luck.  But their play was also good enough to beat out 10 other teams and get second place.

Gold Dusts talents were NOT good enough for first place. And they were NOT in the throw down fighting realm.  But their talents in maneuvering let them beat most teams out there.   And they didnt get second place by pity or luck lol.

PranklinFierce [3217346]

So I was just Rank and File HV Grunt, but to answer your question:

Of course we did. Apex wasn't the slightest bit interested. Why would they be? They had won the competition at that point. They had us in a sleeper hold, and they were well aware of the 1v1 matchup to follow.

We fought hard to save RS, and even harder to oust SnS. Both times we had the help of a very capable Reptilian squad doubling our efforts. But when it came down to the final three GD was the deciding factor, and Apex already had them. Apex had no reason to dissolve their guaranteed ascension, just so they could team up with us to eat a cupcake.

Dusche [2826292]

I never wrote that you made it where you did JUST because you were weak. There were other "weak" teams, your team played the political game right and ended up on that side of the deal where it was beneficial to others to pull you into the top 3, but getting to that spot wasn't just pure luck as it could have easily been taken by other "weak" team. It was a response to WoogBenz because the way he wrote made it seem like GD stomped through competition to get to that spot and was now shitting on anyone who had a critique for how GD lost (which mind you, person in question only had 70 something attacks for GD).

"Also if you think Apex (or any other group) didnt make mistakes you are also naive.  Apex (to their credit) are a great team and their mistakes were not fatal and they 100% deserve their win.  But they were hardly 'perfect'." - did I write anywhere that they or anyone else didn't make any mistakes? I guarantee you that they were hoping on their side of things for you two (GD and HV) not to team up and jump them, the entire eliminations strongest teams were getting targeted yet in the very final GD which ranked in the bottom half of the teams in terms of stats and activity thought they could win that 1v1 against a team that was top 3 the entire event.

My biggest argument was that GD didn't play the best card they could have yesterday which ultimately cost them the win, which was flipping on Apex when HV was low. HV was much more favorable matchup, by no means easy but by all means EASIER. It took them 1 hour to overtake a 3k ticket lead...

And I also gave your team flowers, I mean you still ended up with much better rewards than my team did.

Pointing out a lack of obvious strategy is fan fiction now? That's weird.

PublicDomain [4056603]

More elimination content on forums before it goes away for a year please. I need to inject more straight into my veins. Anything other than another goodbye thread, please I need my fix so bad.

Smackjaw [3210615]

Genuinely curious about why/how LDP is the biggest most dishonored snake in the game? I dont keep up with my torn drama. What'd he do?
