As a relatively new player, I’ve gotten into the habit of selling around 20 losses a day as a way to make money quickly. I never use my natural E, instead I take a Xanax and use the energy it gives me to make my hits. I’m not yet in a financial position to take three Xanax a day purely for gym gains.

Since I’m not actually losing any energy by doing this, why would it be a bad idea to continue? I constantly see people on the forums warning players that selling losses is a bad strategy in the long term, but I’ve never really understood why.

You should find a natural way to make money like traveling etc , so you can use 3 xanax a day and train with it instead . U are wasting 750 energy daily which is taking away from your progress

like Indy said, losing stats.

However it is generally worth it for short term, especially if you don't have a stable source of quality income. Sure you're losing stats but if you can't afford x3 Xanax a day and a PI rental, you're not gaining shit for stats anyway. Money allows you to train more effectively.  In torn, money is your first stat. Then battle stats.

I would recommend perhaps sell 3 loss per xan you take and train the rest of the energy, then you should break even. Use your flying income to grow.

Selling loss is fine. People think it's bad because the pay per hit is bad, you can get 1m+ per attack and potentially a lot more in wars, while losses only give you ~300k.

It is also a problem of opportunity cost. Are you spending the potential energy you can get from xans on losses for $ (less optimal), war attacks for $$ (more optimal), or training (best for growth)?

It's a good way to get started financially, but you should look at transitioning out of selling losses ASAP, for the reasons that players already mentioned in this thread.

As mentioned above, training

The way I see it - in the long run if you have higher stats from training you'll be able to perform better and attack more people in RW giving you better ROI time-wise.

  1. Primarily, the energy spent attacking is wasted when it could be used training or completing missions. Since gains are exponential, the more energy you dedicate to selling losses, the further behind you will be.
  2. Comfort and opportunity loss gaining other income...if you just sell losses and never pursue stable income its all for nothing
  3. Your hits might be more profitable in other instances i.e. RW cache farms
  4. You might be branded as a loser if your high ranked statistic is attack losses--this has no gameplay ramifications but may be a personal or in some instances a social burden

I slutted for a few weeks many years ago to get an initial deposit for investing...its not a bad idea but keep the above in mind and make sure to use the money you gain wisely.

It's not as big of a deal as it used to be.

Battlestats are not nearly as valuable as they were years ago, for several reasons.

And until you've got so much Torn cashflow that you no longer need to pay for Donator Packs with real money, you'll always need more cash.

But, travelling to buy things overseas is still fairly profitable(focus on the items that can be traded in for points at the Museum, mostly flowers and plushies), and costs you even less energy than selling losses does.

So my general advice is to only sell as many losses as you absolutely must.

Later on, you can sell revives or war hits instead, and earn far more anyway.

If youre taking a xan to sell losses, even if you are making enough money back to buy enough xan for 3x a day, you are building up drug addiction that youre not really getting much benefit for. If youre struggling with making money, work on other drug merits for now and find a sustainable way to build up your account to be able to have 3x a day.

Like everyone said above, selling losses will halt your progress on gaining stats . But, it might be necessary for you to sell losses at moment to save money. In my opinion, you should at least able to buy Large Suitcase (around 10m) and have some money to rent PI and buy xanax for few days.

And about your income. If you travel at least 2 long trips per day, should be enough to cover 3 xanax and PI split cost. Good luck

Horses for courses, and people can play their game however they want. Hopefully you now have enough information with regards to stunted stats growth and alternative income options, you'll be in a better position to decide if it's still something you want to pursue long term.
