This is for all my  readers who are living in the US. What are your thoughts on the idea of uncapping the house of Representatives/ Repealing the permanent apportionment act of 1929? Im Curious how others think about an idea of having more representatives in our house, bringing representation closer to the people and many more topics that comes with the idea of uncapping the house.

My opinion on it in a nutshell about it is that I think its great because, I would like to be better represented and it would help the country in some ways to have better representation.

Im not really informed on the topic so don't expect me to know, I just want to hear what others think just to repeat for transparency.

It's a damned if you do, damned if you don't really. On the one hand, it makes sense that smaller representative groups would mean more representation for the working class in general, but these new seats and vacancies are just going to be filled with party members, red or blue. If the new districts are surrounded by red districts already? Which states are we talking about? I'm for it if I didn't believe the two-party system wouldn't just immediately fill in the void with their gunk as soon as the new seats are created.

What we need to do is make politicking a part-time gig like it used to be. No more lifelong healthcare or security or appointment, no six-figure salaries. The United States Congress used to adjourn so lawyers can get back to their circuits and farmers back to their fields.

I think we're better off capping the age of political candidates/appointees. I think a law that states an elected official cannot reach the age of 70 before the end of their term would be enormously helpful. The last thing you want is a country lead by people stuck in older ways of living who are near the end of their lives and won't live to see the consequences of their decisions.

it can both and.

We need to get our reps up to whats actually reflective of our population today.

AND

engage age and term limits. There is some value in getting experienced people to pipe in on subjects they are experts in, so coming up with a something that we can get their opinion on stuff, but they aren't voting/power held in any way would also be nice.

we can have great ideas about how it could be changed, but can you actually see anybody voting for new or better representation that puts the current folks out of a job and replaces them with the peasants... not gonna happen unfortunately. the system is fucked and those in charge want it to stay that way,  and us in our place!

We definitely don't need more government.  Even if they ALL weren't brain dead, no one can get anything done because of all the bureaucracy as it is.  And it my be a fucked system but it is still the best in the world.  That's why everyone wants to come here.  Yes that last part was meant to trigger some....

Fun thinking game: lets say we are neighbors. You have your yard. I have my yard. We both have a dog. Your dog is tiny and yappy and cannot leave its yard. Mine, the American dog, can go wherever he pleases, shit wherever he wants, and no one is going to stop him or say anything because he is a REALLY BIG dog.

My dog goes into your yard, shits all over it, comes back into my yard. Your dog, whose yard is now covered in some other dog's shit, wants to leave and come to my yard. Here is the question.

Does your dog want to come here because I have the better yard, or because my dog destroyed your yard?
