Honestly just the shit talk would be healthy for the social aspect of the game. People get really roped into small faction and sometimes larger alliance communities.
Regular chat boxes with diff opponents would grow the community aspect a lot I think.

Group chat systems have alerady been tested and work, and once we have things stable enough we'll likely be bringing that to you soon too and can continue work on our own chat system once again, bringing you features we know you want, without the ever looming issues of third party reliance.
So it sounds like they're already implemented but they want to do some more testing to make sure the stability is better before releasing, which is good.
