Should build into rentals an ability to cancel them by owner for prorated return of rental fee.

Example: I rent a PI for 1,500,000 for 30 days, halfway thru owner cancels for whatever reason, I get half my rental fee back automatically.

You bought the rental and should be expected to stick with it.

You can't enter into the rental contract then back out half way through.

This proposed idea of yours has far too much scope for abuse. Where does the cash come from? The person renting out? Does it just put them straight into negative cash?

Awful idea, once you click the lease button, your'e signing yourself into a contract, as you are when you click the accept offer button. If you didn't want to lease it for 30 days, you have the option to lease it for less anyway.

that was a strict hypothetical, what if someone let me rent for free and I can't move bc of money/vault issues why penalize the renter?

I think it's a great idea. You should be able to cancel with your rental amount being returned, but at least saves you on upkeep.
