I've found that most armour exmp: safety boots and combat boots have the same stats in defense and attack so why do they have such a cost difference?

I didn't think any of the armour items had any effect at this time, except for the vests.... until further updates....

a full set of the same armor will have a bonus
The bars are rounded figures, it could be better than it appears on that, armour sets may also have a bonus for a full set.

People are going off of Cheds comment from announcements
New armour parts - You'll need armour for all parts of your body. Head, Body, Legs, Hands, Feet. Only a few basic extra armours will be available in phase #1, but we already have loads of special sets which give some awesome unique bonuses ready for future phases.
Would you call combat gear a special set?

No I wouldn't call the combat gear a special set.
There was a post somewhere that had pictures of a few of the special sets like the EOD bomb squad one
That doesn't necessarily confirm anything.
Everyone is reading into things that don't exist.

Yes it does. Just consider all of the economic bubbles which have burst over the centuries... Price was inflated based on perceived worth as opposed to actual worth...

The Full Matching Combat Armour Set currently available gives no bonuses if all equipped, stronger setup is Full Combat Set with either Flexible or Liquid Body Armours (Cheaper). Enjoy the game and cover entire body.
they all have an effect. They all have damage reductions on the part of the body you are shot from. If you only wear a vest. You'll only be protected when shot in chest stomach and heart
Actually, in defends right now, if any body part is not covered by any real Combat Armour, this makes the player much more likely to be hit in a player attack. Clothing can also be equipped, but is not armour and provides zero protection from attacks.
