TOO LONG, DIDN'T READ:: Increase education to make it more in line with stat requirements.

At the moment it feels like the work stats are a bit of a joke that are given from Education, given the relative amount that companies now need I propose that we have more job stats gained from Education. I'm not meaning boom 1 year with education they have 70k to all working stats, but I'm thinking something should be done to increase to fit in line with how much more we need for companies for new players.

I would even further advocate adding an education module that focuses on specifically increasing your job stat gains other than Bachelor of General Studies, which only provides a 10% boost. That 10% boost is somewhat trivial with the current figures and often the player can get more meaningful options. I'd like to see that 10% boost actually be worth enough to make players have to think about taking it first or second.

Edit: Another proposal to add to the mix is to as a perk of General Studies allow you to do an education course that is already done over again for an additional gain. If we did that I'd propose that I'd suggest giving the General studies perk the ability to increase stat gains by 2000% to all future education classes. That would make the best jobs still taking years to get to, but make education courses actually worth the time and money for keeping track of rehab. I am estimating about 23k stats a year being generated from courses. This would help speed up growth into the top and middle jobs while allowing small jobs to still be viable.

The problem: Stat requirements are so high that education and jobs don't get you there very quickly. This would cut down the time and allow all other players the chance to use this education update.

To balance the changes I'd propose that all those who completed the educations would get a pro-rated change. It is complicated but would likely result in less players being upset. I'd also say that if all you did was update the general bachelors course to the increase I suggested and add an education module that is repeatable that focuses on increasing work stats rather than actual other perks pro-rating the change might not be necessary as then those who want to focus on stat gains can easily get the gains and those who don't care enough to take the courses we can simply say the option is there.

Another user posted: Also increase education costs so that free education block is worth it again. This may be a little overpowerd but I like it since it would greatly benefit me and many other young players.

My feelings towards this is it would be fair considering the job stats would be more in line with what we need, so price should go up. I've never felt the free education block is worth it except for the dual weapon course.
We would have to be careful though since most employees only make 100k-500k a day from their job (other companies can't compete with Tv Company or Oil Rigs for employee pay and expect to make money); so the courses can't be too expensive I believe no more than 4 million a course (unless it is an extremely exceptional course) would be enough to make the cost of the stock benefit worth putting out the money for and adding an more stinging incentive to rehab frequently with Xanax use.

Note this is how long it would take from 0 stats to fill in whatever role. Obviously it is going to be a whole lot more considering no one would hire a new player for such important roles when clearly older players are the better choice.

I honestly can say I don't agree with this.

You have to think this is a long term game, some players have played 10+ years to get where they are with working stats.

Some sat in education job and blostered their working stats to get into the higher end jobs. As time rolls on more people fill the requirments to get into the higher tier jobs and more nooblets come in to take over the lower tier jobs.

I personally just don't see this as much of an issue.

As of now, I'll leave unrated.

I think that crimes should have a chance to reward money/item AND maybe a very small amount of a working stat (depending on the crime).

So eg. for counterfeiting, computer crimes etc.. you could get intelligence, shoplift you could get endurance (for running away), pickpocket could get you some manual etc.. like that.

Of course it would only be a chance to get a small working stat bonus (so not every time you do the crime), and as said, a very small amount, so maybe only 1-2 of the stat.

It would all add up over time, and would still take effort.

I spent like 1/4th of a Year as a 5 Star Director. I also spent a lot of time in Law and Education. I'm proposing that their stats would look better than mine in 8 1/2 years. Players who stayed in Companies won't have as good of a spread as I have, per each company only gives 2 stats and not all 3.

Case in point I have a relatively high job:
You currently work as a Secretary at Torns First Architecture which is owned by DrUniverse.
You are paid (Hidden) every day!
You also receive a maximum of 0 manual, 68 endurance and 34 intelligence every day based on your efficiency.
So in 365 days I'd gain about 24.8K Endurance & 12.4K Intelligence without training. I think the point should be fairly obvious.

Still education played so small of a role in those stats that the only reason I'm bothering to do Education courses is NOT for work stats, but the other benefits. That doesn't seem quite right to me.

The reward of general studies bachelor's can be replaced by 10% boost to all sorts of work stat gains, not only from education(like job specials, daily job gains, trains etc).

I also Like Link's idea. Perhaps also have missions that give boosts to work stats. (In my new merit upgrades suggestion, there is one to provide passive boosts to work stats, it can also include active boost to work stat gains-will add that)

As for education gains, you gain around 8,000 intelligence, 3,000 manual labor and 3,500 endurance in total(without 10% boost), which is quite less. We should be gaining at least 25,000 intelligence (jut triple all int gains) , 15,000 manual labor and endurance each (this will require a lot of adjusting) in total, perhaps more.

Chedburn can also start adding new education courses that are specifically meant to boost working stats and provide no other bonus, which in total ass 10,000 each of the work stats.

Rino_007 [344056]

That is the problem is that 10% of of education gains is small when talking with around 8k... I mean that translates into about 800 more intelligence. Problem? I think so considering the time invested into the general classes to get it and it doesn't account for much extra after the fact. 10% wouldn't be so bad if the figures we were looking at were a good bit higher; and 10% permanent gains might be too far as far as from working a job. The key here is every 10 days they'd have 100% more job stats with the education than without. Long term play time that would make for stat inflation, where we only need to get up to at most ~200k in all stats to be completely effective.
1796200 [1796200]

Agreed.

Torns old player base is half dead.
With all the 100s of billions sitting in inactives we need companies producing money for the game to function.
Like come on a 4 week course might give you 100 intell 75 end and 50 manuel?
That is pathetic.
AshleyT [1432316]

Yeah, the gains for education are pathetic, I could get the stats from a week long or 2 week long course in 2 days working. It's nice they give a boost, but the boost is insignificantly small. Maybe a little buff but it would have to be carefully balanced, obviously.

And of course, some way to compensate the players already passed with education because otherwise they will be like "We made it without this, they shouldn't get it easier than we did".

Try searching for information without a search engine like google, and you'll see what I mean, just because it used to be hard in the past, doesn't mean it should stay hard.
