it said on my way back from mexico that torn used to have dog fighting in the game. I think this sounds amazing, especially if money is involved. This would be a more fun way to gamble other than going to the casino as you lose almost every time you go. Whats your opinions on this?

I think racing could be considered to be the replacement for dog fighting, and a more socially acceptable way of gambling compared to the old dog fighting system?

- Racing can be used for gambling with the 'Custom Events Join Fee'
- Entering Official Events, and earning Racing Points to upgrade your cars can be compared to having a dog to train

My opinion same as always on dog fighting : no way.

I get flamed for it on these threads but its too much in bad taste in my opinion.

Could set a gladiator arena up in Torn and we get to gamble on if you will win a fight or not, loser gets 4 hours a time in hosp.

You wont have a choice though on whether you want to compete or not as that makes it more fun reading a thread of you quitting/demanding fair play in Torn.

I wasn't around (at least I think I wasn't) but why does mentioning dog fighting in torn bring a negative reaction? Has something happened where it looked as though torn was promoting real-world dog fighting?

It only gets such a negative reaction because it's bought up so often.

It was primarily removed due to the performance related issues it caused Torn. I don't think it was a reputation thing, as the dogs all were left on the system to slowly become extinct through lack of care if I remember rightly.

Let me ask everyone who remembers dogs a question. Was the concept a bad idea?

Yes we all know the implementation was bad in terms of the performance issue it caused on the servers.

But here is the thing, the actual setup and idea of how it worked was actually very good!

Compared to the first versions of racing, the stock market, attacking etc. dogs and dog fighting was actually setup and worked without issue!
And here we have the irony, one of the few things that the initial version of that was very good is one of the things to have got scrapped and never to return rather then revamped as a v2.0!

Although the twisted side of me was fascinated by the so called 'epileptic' episode...
