most of the time franchises are stupid. If you have money for franchise fees just do it yourself

Well it is technically possible. 2 methods.

1. With very trustworthy friends (you can decide how to run your group of companies)

Or

2. Under a faction. (Tbh under this method nobody is sharing profits, however you can easily trade employees between each other and potentially make more profits due to no wage requirement*)

*The no wage requirement is also a choice usually only made when the companies have unlocked their better specials

Well your question was kinda stupid, if you wanted to know why you can't own several companies you could have just said so. It's because they have capped it at one per player, probably to give more people a chance to own a successful company.
