If i bough a Palace and then upgraded it to have a Vault, can i deposit money there but still be living on a leased PI? Or do i have to be living in the Palace to be able to access the vault, which would mean that i would be throwing away happiness every time i had to take out money from the vault since i would switch from Palace to PI every time i want to withdraw money

Happiness resets every 15 minutes, so as long as you move to the palace and back to the PI within that window your happiness would be unaffected. - Bug [1455582] Committee

If you have staff you can only do this once a day, since they cannot be fixed the same day you hire them. Watch out for that. - Shindig [865748] Officer

Yes you can. But be aware that your happiness will change every time you switch properties

I would recommend you to avoid buying and upgrading properties. You should rent a PI with high happiness and store your money somewhere and then when you have enough money buy a PI and then you can spend money on upgrades
I have read / thought about some methods to store my money away, the most efficient way seems to be ghosts trades but they expire every 6 hours, i was wondering if there would be another substitute for bookies, besides Cayman's since it is going to be a war zone full of muggers
Points would be a good way. They are easy to sell. Ghost trades time out and you don't want that if you go offline

I don't plan on having staff on the Palace, does that mean i can only switch once a day? Maybe i am misunderstanding
Really? If that is the case then everything will be fine, can i move more than once a day from between Palace and the PI tho?
You'd have to fire staff in your main property to switch to another property with a vault.
Once you go back to your main property you need to hire staff again, but then you can't fire them for another 24 hours - this is what will effectively limit you to jumping over to the palace to bank or withdraw cash from its vault once a day.
(unless you are fine going without the extra happy the staff would give in your main property - this isn't recommended though as you take a bit of a hit on your battle stat gains in the gym if you don't have staff boosting your max happy)

you dont need staffs on your palace, dont hire any of them. if you want to deposit/withdraw your cash:
- pay daily upkeep then fire all staffs in your PI, after your happiness reset (xx.00, xx.15, xx.30, xx.45)
- leave and move to your palace
- deposit/withdraw your cash, make it fast
- move back to pi before your happiness reset
- hire all staffs
It's only practical if you live in your spouse's property, either rented or owned by them. Then you can move out from that property and in to the palace whenever you need to deposit or withdraw money. If you can use it only once per day you might as well use the caymans bank imo.
